I think Game Galaxy's quite a bit in the lead now. Close to 200k more points than the nearest competitor. This is one of the more interesting promotions that I've seen in a while, and I hope there are more to come for area arcades.

Also, you may want to update the broken html in your sig :)

For the good of man and for the proliferation of Game Galaxy Arcade, I'll play and donate my points. I may never get to go there, but if I can play a game to help you out- I'm 'bout it.

Edit: The game is not loading for me. I don't think I can play the game from my Mac, as 10.3.9 doesn't support Flash Player 10. Fuck. I'll try the Vista laptop downstairs.

Does the game have an ending, or does it continually loop the same 4 levels? I think I got to level 9 before I had to take a dive and donate my points.

I got 72k and change my first time playing. The music is terrible, and it takes a while for the game to pick up speed and actually present any sort of challenge. It's not too bad otherwise. It would also be much better with a controller.

Wow, Arcade UFO has ESP Galuda II. They're getting my points.

Is DTR's arcade really doing that badly?

DreamTR

Thanks to everyone helping us out!

KiD Ferris: If we win, I will GET EspGaluga II....

This is a 2 month promotion so please keep playing!

portnoyd: No, none of the 4 arcades are in "danger", we were the ones "chosen" for the promotion, that's all. Every cent we've made has gone right back in to the arcade...

Wow. So not only does this gum brand have awesome commercials, they actually have competent people on their advertising and promo staff? Awesome.

I'll uh, donate a bit.

86,400 Points have been added to Game Galaxy.

Best of luck (Arcade UFO is roughly double the others right now, though). I figure that my sitting here going mindlessly through 15 levels of that terrible game shouldn't go to waste, although I'm having misgivings about giving Stride all my personal information. But hey, iz just the Cadbury Bunny, right?

Things wrong about that game (visible through just one playthrough):
-Enemies that can't be shot, enemy bullets that can't be dodged, bosses that can be sine-waved to death and have no real attack to speak of (layer another attack on top of that one and maybe we'll have something that can give Truxton II's first boss a run for its/her money), no autofire but no reason for button mashing, non-configurable buttons, oh and a power bar, life gem, and INERTIA YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!

Things great about that game:
-Visuals, the music (the first loop anyway), character designs (the first 'taur looks like a monkey? Awesome, I chose the marsupial though)

Things lol about that game:
- Never once used the special attack

I gave you 93000 points, (hint, use the shield power up to defeat large amounts of enemies including the boss)

They sure make it seem like you guys are the last 4 arcades in the country. :P Way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me either.

If you need the shield to beat a boss there's no hope for you. Just sine-wave and spam it to death.

The shield seems necessary for avoiding some of the ridiculous screen-covering bullet spam from the regular enemies, though.

portnoyd: Yeah, they do...and I think from the "biography" we did, we didn't make it sound like we are "hurting" enough.

If they were doing it in the sense of XXX arcade will close without the funds, it's probably the San Francisco arcade for sure. I know we aren't in danger of closing unless the mall closes. We are in the top 10 most "endangered" malls in the country (Hickory Hollow Mall in Antioch, TN)

Console Game sales are now about 40% of our income and less than 10% of our overall space....

Well, there's another 47,975 points; didn't go nearly so far because movement started lagging out and the window resized itself (?!) a few times (maybe it doesn't like tabs).

Youch. I've been in 2 out of those 10 malls before (probably read the same article you did) and my god, they were desolate and to the point of not feeling safe in them. It sounds like you're probably the only point of interest in there.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Use THIS (http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm) if you are playing this game! SAVE THE WRISTS FROM CARPAL TUNNEL!
Configuration is easy, be sure to assign a key to H to pause the game when it loses focus. Also be sure to make your shot key autofire.

The game loooves to mess you over with screen-covering waves of offscreen bullets, but I knew that already. The shield gives you enough time to get out of harm's way when it's done, but there were a few times I lost a lot of health because it wouldn't engage quickly enough.

Used croctaur, which seemed to move a lot more quickly and responsively than the others I've used.

Edit:

+108,250

Well, the off-screen bullets are no surprise after a few levels. What I meant to say is that although individual enemies don't seem to get harder (they don't give up any more points than before), the game compensates by throwing more of them at you, for longer. At higher levels there's often a group of four-five enemies still onscreen when the boss appears.

The major issues for me (aside from the game being a POS) still are the lack of autofire (I wonder if joy2key could fix that) and the window suddenly resizing and losing focus.

For some reason I ended up doing better with the orangataur, no idea why. Speed doesn't seem any better (I think that having the game in its own window with no tabs helped speed out). Crocotaur should be the best because he's shorter and has a shield.

On the topic of the most endangered malls, here (http://www.usnews.com/blogs/flowchart/2009/06/26/americas-most-endangered-malls.html) is that article portnoyd mentioned, strangely those pictures don't look too bad.

+122,450

I knew this game had bullets that speed up as they travel, but joy2key makes the effect much more pronounced. So pretty...hard to focus on flying straight with the added joy2key lag though.

+210,125

Hmm, shield and croctaur = winner
joy2key stopped the window resizing issue too.
Only got hit by a boss once. The main problem is bullet patterns appearing when you're between shield charges.

So that's 682,300 points from me so far! Woo!

Wow, DreamTR's arcade went from first to last, it's getting crushed by 70 million points...

Starbase is such a sob story, lol.

portnoyd

That's a pretty big discrepancy between first and last. I wonder if you can cheat at this game and rack up tons of points?

DreamTR
08-26-2009, 05:41 PM
Supposedly there is a way, but I don't think anyone is doing it on our side, LOL

Ed Oscuro

If I worked at this game every day I'm sure I could have whittled down that lead slightly, but that would require...some kind of personal incentive

Really, I think the other sites must have a laptop with the game & and a controller set up at their front door, not to give any ideas...or they just have had a lot of people playing for them. 70M points isn't an unassailable number or anything.
