NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...

- Rock Band players rallied together to save Joe's voice in the most god-awful sounding tournament ever created.
- Pac-Man cookies were, in an ironic twist, chomped.
- Way too much fun was being had with an NES Konami Laserscope.
- While attempting to escape from the heat inside the store, Nicole was destroyed by acid rain.
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees (just look at the boxes in the photos!).
- Pictures and video tell it best:

http://www.digitpress.com/images/store/

We'll retire the Rock Band set for awhile and give people's hearing a chance to heal. This month, we'll set up a super-customized Wii that can play NES, SNES, Genesis, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, ColecoVision, Odyssey2 and more. Lots of options. We'll also get our Saturn groove on, with an import-ready Saturn system and lots of shooters and fighting games to battle through.

Tournament: At 6pm we'll host a Saturn tourney, focused around one or more fighting games. Game(s) TBD, just bring your skills.

Prepare for a day and night of intense gaming and trading unlike any other. It's NAVA time!

When: August 29th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

I'm fairly certain that was the most people documented/on record to be "having fun" with a Konami NES Laser Scope.

Ever.

Are you really trying to make me come up again just to kick some asses in the tourney?

Any clue as to what fighting games? Also, is it worth bringing other fighters or will everything worth playing be covered (I have a mess of them for my Saturn)?

NoahsMyBro

I'll be the parental-unit-on-duty for both of our screaming-meemies that day, so I won't be able to stay long, and I'll probably have to skip this month's outing altogether.

Still, I'm going to try and make SJC, so I might see some you down south.

Have fun everybody!

It's whatever YOU bring - this was your suggestion, remember? :) Seriously though, no problem if you can't make it - there are enough of us with healthy Saturn collections to fill in the gaps.

Nothing mainstream? Why?

Well I rather show off hidden gems instead of stuff you could play any day. One thing I've learned from these meet's (well atleast the SJC ones) is that its a bigger treat to experience something I've never played before.

Also Mortal Kombat is pretty bad.

NOTE: If djbeatmongrel can't make it, there will still be plenty of fightin'... plenty of Saturn gamer/collectors in attendance so fear not.

What games?

Sewer Shark
Lunar the Silver Star
Joe Montanas NFL Football
Final Fight CD
Night Trap
Double Switch
Lethal Enforcers
Corpse Killer
Ground Zero Texas
Sega Classics (Streets of Rage, Columns, Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe)

Rise of the Dragon
Sherlock Holmes
Jurassic Park
Spiderman versus Kingpin
Dark Wizard
Popful Mail
Silpheed

Thats the list of games I'll be trying to move with the console. Its an all or nothing deal... I'd rather be rid of the set as a whole get rid of pieces of it and be stuck with some of it.

Also I'll be looking for an Atari Starpath Supercharger.

TonyTheTiger

I might be interested in Popful Mail. What kind of condition is it in?

Jisho23

I might be interested in Popful Mail. What kind of condition is it in?

I'm only selling the lot, not individual games. Unless I can move all of it I would prefer to keep it.

On a side note; all games are loose w/ manuals. Silpheed is, however, complete. All games are, regardless, in good condition and have no problems running.

Update. I will be making it and i will be bringing fighters, loads of import fighters. Joe, if there is an import ps2 (or modded) that would be cool to. If swap magic is used thats fine to but we won't be able to play Rumble Fish. If your 360 is up I can also bring my hd and blazblue, sf4, and kof xii.

I suggest that if anyone reading this is up for import ps2 fighting and has a stick please bring one. I can supply 2 sticks for saturn and 1 stick for 360.

Good man! See, there was PLENTY of time for planning. We're still a week away!

I've got a Japanese PS2 in the store so we're good there. Skip the 360 though. The other main monitor will be tied up with the super-modded-Wii.

Are there any US-only fighters that I should bring along? I can't think of anything that wouldn't be covered in a good import collection. Also, you're covered with the RAM carts?

LOL, just noticed that they lifetime banned me from the site!!

I guess because I registered strictly to get in touch with that guy who was offering up the cabinet in Buying/Selling (or was it Arcade Alley) a few months ago and then ultimately turned him down when I discovered that it didn't have any cartridge board in it (which was absolutely unclear in his post) or one that he could/would sell me at a reasonable price. He had 4 slots, but I wasn't interested. Jeez.

Wow ... lifetime ban - that's harsh.

I recently picked one of these bartop HanaHo games Neo Geo Game Room Classics up NIB and it turns out that it's pretty much full Neo Geo Jamma hardware/arcade monitor inside.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5183YE2RWXL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

If I remove the 6 game "emulator" board from the harness it's all wired up with Jamma like a Neo Geo.

Looking to stick a mini 1-slot board in there and pick up one of those 108 NEO-GEO multi-carts.

*edit* looks like that might require some additional power-wiring, I may just go with a J-Pac setup instead. Either way, it's a nice little bartop unit.

There's a guy in Brooklyn who has a bunch of these NIB, PM me if you want his info.

Y'know, that's a good call. We've been trying harder to identify everyone who walks in and drops down a box - and we've gotten much better at it - but it would be particularly helpful for EVERYONE if you told whoever was at the regiter that "this box is mine" so when random people inevitably come to the register to ask we know where to direct them!

Hello Gamers,

I will be returning to Nava this Saturday after missing out on at least a years worth of these memorable events.

I was hoping someone would be able to trade/sell me a boxed, complete with manual version of Pokemon Red Version for the Game Boy game console. If you have this game, please feel free to contact me me or post on this topic section.

I've got to agree with Joe on this. Plus I have a Turbo Express package which would be perfect for you to take back on the plane, and it will keep you entertained the whole way.

I'm on the fence about going this week, I actually thought I missed it last weekend so now I need to see if I can juggle somethings to make it work out. Does anybody going have any arcade or pins they want to make a trade for? I finished all my outstanding project last weekend and now I'm itching for something new and don't want to drop the cash right now. I have tons of console stuff and would definitely make a trade worth your effort. I'd be interested in anything from a total project on up to fully working.

Well, sadly I cannot go. I'm in the recovering stages of bronchitis. Yes, it sucks. I had to be admitted to the hospital on Monday. I think it's this crazy weather, combined with my allergies and my grandfather starting the smoke again. What I'm really worried about is the asthma part. I've always had a mild case of it, but now I have to go get checked to see if it's full blown.

I'm just praying and hoping for the best. I'm doing a lot better than I was Monday, but since acute bronchitis can be contagious until it goes, I'm not taking any chances. It's bad enough I have to go to work Sunday.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I just bought Chotto Studio for the PSP with the camera so let's see how that works out in the meantime as I wait for Christmas to ask for the DSi ;).

Twas a great time at NAVA, I never get to catch up with anyone since I'm always with Chris or the gang in the back havin' a ball playing Age of Empires,
I intend to change that soon.

But yeah, can't wait to see the videos and pictures, Chris just won the award for director of the year and surpased Mel Gibson for best actor of the year as well for his new GameBoy Camera movie. Ch-ch-ch check it out.

Was my first nava meeting and fisrt visit to the store and was pretty cool. I was in the first match of the tournament. I thought that having sailor moon be the first game was hilarious.

Lots of cool stuff in the store
