Heroes of might and magic

I havent heard much loving for the series on these forums, why is that? Is here any other HoMM-fans on these forums?

I own every single one of these things on a PC and for me, the list goes something like this:
1. Heroes 2
2.Heroes 3
3.Heroes 1
4.Heroes 4
5.Heroes 5

The last one isnt a bad game, but it feels like they just made the same game with better craphics.

And the fourth one is on the fourth place 'cause its good i quess, but they tried to make too many new things with only one game.

The first 3 tough, are exellent. And heroes still remains one of my fav-franchises ever.

I still play alot of hot-seat with my friends.

Your opinions of the series?

I loved the first two games a lot when they came out. I started losing interest around when the third game came out, and I didn't even try the last two.

But Heroes 2 was a blast of fun. Definitely one of my favorite PC games. Way better than the original Might and Magic (although granted I was never a big fan of first-person dungeon crawlers where every corridor looked the same and you always got lost)

Awesome! I love them, though i'm not the best, gotta love the underhanded tactics that can be used to win in multiplayer.

Kinda cool to find someone who likes the series, especially on DP. If you are up for a "casual" play against someone shoot me am PM.

I have 3, 4 and 5. Honestly I prefer 5, but like the others very much as well.

PC gaming fans are here, they just lurk :). My brother is a HUGE fan of the series and I have to say that I would love to see one ported to the DS. Any plans for a new one anytime soon?

I remember being so exited when HoMM was comming to Dreamcast. I wanted to preorder it at EB games, but they wouldn't let me. Then the title got pushed back over and over again until it got canceled.

I've always been a big fan of the game. I've never found any personal friends that enjoyed it though. :(

Yes. I haven't played four, but the others I have played. I suspect 4 is much like 3, and thus I prefer 5 over both of them. 1,2, and 3 are more casual than five -- generally I prefer them but 5 is more modern.

I suggest everyone play Kings Bounty the Legend if they like any of these...

LOVE HoMM!!! Probably the PC game that gets the most play at my house, except for maybe Roller Coaster Tycoon.

I think 3 is probably my favorite (along with the Armageddon's Blade expansion). 2 was the first one I played and we used to spend entire DAYS playing Hot Seat games back in undergrad. Nuts.

I agree that 4 tried to do too much too fast, they kind of lost me, although I need to give it a better try.

Do I remember accurately that in HoMM3 if you collected all the artifacts of a similar kind they would merge to form one mega-super artifact?

I only have 3, but it is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay still holds up after all these years, and it brings me back to my childhood when I play it.
