I won a PSP a couple months ago, and I just got it in the mail. It came with two games, Ratchet and Clank, and Rockband. I really want to get Tekken Dark Ressurection, the Loco roco games, Patapon games, and I've heard God of War is really pretty. I know there are some cool Megaman games that I wanted to pick up, plus a remake of PaRappa. Any other games I must have? Fighting games are welcome (how's Guilty Gear on PSP?) and rhythm games as well. Any cool downloadable games? Any cool applications I should download? I'm really looking to use this thing, it seems very powerful and has a lot of nifty features. Thanks in advance!

I remember making a thread similar. I searched but with the stupid search system you can't search for words under four letters(which honestly needs to be changed.)
Anyways. I'll list some US/EUR/JPN titles.
-Dracula X Chronicles
-Gundam Battle Royale/Chronicle/Universe(JPN only)
-Wild ARMs XF
-Gurumin
-Brave Story
-Jeanne D'Arc
-Driver 76
-GTA LCS/VCS
-Breath of Fire 3(EUR)
-Tales of Eternia(EUR)
-Valkyrie Profile
-Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
-Mega Man Powered Up
-God of War
-Star Ocean First Departure/Second Evolution
-Syphon Filter Dark Mirror/Logan's Shadow
-Resistance Retribution
-Crimson Gem Saga
-Prinny Can I Really Be the Hero
-Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
-Powerstone
-Silent Hill Origins
That should be a good start.

God of War is indeed great.
Tekken Resurrection is mind bogglingly good on PSP, but there's a new one coming soon so you might want to wait for that.
If you like fighting games don't pass up:
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
Darkstalkers Chronicle
Power Stone Collection
And you can download Guilty Gear Judgment directly on the PSP PSN Store for $5
If you're a fan of classics or arcade collections I'd recommend:
Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play
SNK Classics Vol. 1
Namco Museum Battle Collection
Capcom Classics Reloaded
Capcom Classics Remixed
Taito Legends Power Up
Sega Genesis Collection PSP
At this point in the system's life it's pretty tough to make a short-list of great, must have titles (there are so damned many) ... but it's safe to say that you'll find great stuff in just about any genre.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX is a must buy. The only thing is that the PSP's d-pad isn't too fighting game friendly. Well, either that or my friend's PSP wasn't broken in that well yet. But I had to press hard on those directional buttons o_O

If you like turn-based SRPGs, get Jeanne D'Arc. It's a real good'un.
Of course, PSP also has FFTactics and Disgaea, which are fine, but they're not PSP originals and you might already have those.

God of War, Dracula X Chronicles, Megaman Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X are good games, but RPG are the real cream of the crop. Surprisingly, it's one of the main reasons to get a PSP, besides emulation of course.
Here's a link to the RPG compilation for the PSP:

BTW, Dissidia's coming out soon. Looks like a fun RPG/strategy/fighting hybrid game with lots of FF favorites joining in.

The PSP version of Disgaea as well as the DS version has an entirely new storyline with Etna along with the original as well. Disgaea is a piece of crap though and adding more to the game is just more crap to wade through.

God of War is great, also Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, both Syphon Filters, Killzone: Liberation, and Resistance are some of the top games out for PSP right now. Most of these games, with the exception of Resistance, you can pick up used for $10 and $20 new. Oh yeah and don't forget Gran Turismo and Little Big Planet are on the way soon as well.

So is Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core not a good reason for a PSP?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm not very big on RPG's, and absolutely loathe turn based ones, but I'd love a dungeon crawler, are there any out that are worth my time? How about some downloadable games? I have echochrome already. Any place to download some cool themes? I've found some sites, but they're messy and full of pop ups and other annoyances, any legit places to get some?

All of the cool themes are actually fanmade.
http://www.psp-themes.net/
Alot of the themes that are fanmade here are crap and have literally no thought put into them other than people putting a background and then calling it a theme. You'll need to scroll through and look at all of them but there are some really good ones. If there are some older good ones that are at other sites, someone will most likely have uploaded it here.
My three favorites are a original FF, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Wild ARMs XF. I know the original FF one and Wild ARMs XF one I got somewhere else, but you can also find it here.
Alternatively you can go through QJ.net with their PSP Theme list.

FFVII CC is good and probably should be put on that list. I haven't had my PSP for years, but I am really enjoying it and game rankings has it pretty high as well.

If you don't already have it on WSC/DS, Gunpey is a great, cheap puzzler.
