My PSP isn't getting a lot of love lately. In fact after I finished Castlevania Chronicles X and Joan d'Arc it sort of started collecting dust. These days I'm mostly about RPGs so I'm wondering what good RPG's are out there for the PSP? I've been thinking about picking up the Star Ocean I & II remakes, but what else is there?

If you like the overhead dungeon delve smash and grab, the Untold Legends series are fun. Very Baldur's Gate I/II feel to them. I also liked Shining Force EXA.

I also liked Shining Force EXA.
Wasn't that for the PS2? I'm pretty sure I've beaten that.

-Crisis Core
-Final Fantasy Tactics
-Ys: Ark of Napisthm
-Crimson Gem Saga
-Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
-Breath of Fire III (Europe release)

....just to name a few. Final Fantasy: Dissidia is coming out soon and if you're a fan of SMT series, Persona is coming to PSP in September.

Yeah. Press Start is doing a good job with the list. No one else is bothering. I'm sure there's others though in JPN only. Anyways.

Anyways. Who's getting Ys 7 when it comes out?

Is BoF III getting a US release?

Not currently. Thats why people are mentioning getting a 'PAL' copy, since it's all in English.

Whoa, I don't know WHAT the hell I was thinking. You're right, of course.

Well. I guess I'll some good ones on the system other than just referring to the RPG list.

Wild ARMs XF, Tales of Eternia, Breath of Fire 3, Tales of the World Radiant Mythology, Star Ocean 1 and 2, Jeanne D Arc, Crimson Gem Saga, and Brave Story.

Crimson Gem Saga is the most recent I've played and probably the worst when it comes to the gameplay(solid gameplay, though, Lunar sortof style) but the storyline is good and the game is very quick paced and doesn't drag at all.

-Final Fantasy Tactics

This game can be found fairly cheap at most places. I'm not sure if it's any good but at $10 or less for new copies it's worth giving it a shot.

Though it is not a traditional RPG, but if you enjoy Zelda style game, then be sure to check out:

Gurumin

It is from Falcom (of Ys fame) and is a very enjoyable adventure game.

I also really enjoyed PoPoLoCrois
It has a unique battle system of turn based/battle centric grid stratagy.

I dunno. Amazing game, yes, but I wouldn't call it an RPG.

Disgaea

Saw this first when reading your post. I had to scroll up and make sure I wasn't scrolling through the Bad RPGs for PSP thread.

-Riviera
-Yggdra Union

Forgot about listing these. Even if you own the GBA versions, the additions make these worth picking up, even if they're pretty much the exact same games.

I played though Disgaea for the PSP. I loved the wacky story and humor, but the pointless grinding to the extreme (I mean you even have to level grind to power up your weapons for gods sake) took all the fun out of it. However I was able to download a save file that had the levels already maxed out and had a blast just going through the game. Too bad I can't do that with Disgaea 2 for my PS2 (or maybe I can on the PS3, I don't know).

I already have and played though Tactics. Story still doesn't make much sense. The noseless people in the cut scenes were funny though.
