I've got a copy of Metal Gear Solid GH that I want to sell, but before I list it I'd like to test the integrity of the discs. Play N Trade resurfaced them when I got them, but the label sides don't look pristine. Short of playing through the whole game, is there a way to verify the integrity of a disc?

Yes, I know that, but I'm asking about software to check it.

Most of the Nero disc-burning programs come with an app called Nero DiscSpeed. DiscSpeed has a ScanDisc tab that's handy for testing the integrity of optical media. Keep in mind, though, if you're getting read errors, it might be the result of the way the disc was authored. You'd need a 2nd copy of the game to test in that situation for comparison. It's not much of an issue with PS1 games but it'll happen once in a while with PS2 and PC games.

That works. Turns out my replacement copy isn't that much better. Thanks though.
