The real reason EWJ was removed from the Sega Genesis poll. Fingers crossed for hi-res 2D sprites. But I'm not holding my breath.

Not sure why a remake is necessary. This is one of the best looking games from the Genesis. I have it on Wii and it still looks great to this day.

Yeah, just give me the Sega CD Special Edition and I'll bite.

This, my god, THIS. I paid five bucks for my copy and it's the only Sega CD game I'll never get rid of. (Well, that and my copy is signed by Tommy Tallarico, but that's besides the point.)

Maybe the developers didn't know how popular Earthworm Jim actually was and then once Sega decided to release it as a XBL title, the developers wanted the profit instead?

Anyways. Earthworm Jim was going to get a remake for the PSP but was cancelled. Maybe they thought they might as well release it after seeing how many votes the game was getting for a port.

Sorry to bump up an older thread, but it looks like this may be coming out soon. I just found this on the ESRB's website.

Earthworm Jim HD

Platform: Xbox 360

Rating: Everyone 10+

Content descriptors: Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief

Rating summary:

This is a side-scrolling action platformer in which players assume the role of a humanoid earthworm (Jim) who must travel the galaxy to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name. Players run, climb, and bungee-jump their way through colorful platform levels, while saying things like "Yippie!," "Groovy!," and "Oh, yeah!" Along the way, they can use their own head as a whip to defeat enemies. They can also use a blaster to shoot at birds, dogs, blobs, and boss characters. Most characters burst into a cloud of dust or feathers when defeated; some burst into piles of "cartoony" bones and eyeballs; and others simply emit burp or flatulence sounds when their time has passed. After passing through levels named "Intestinal Distress," "Snot-a-Problem," and "New Junk City," players may elect to use a refrigerator as a counterweight to launch cows.

Awesome, I've been wanting to go back to Earthworm Jim for a long time. If the graphics look good and not horrible (like a lot of HD remakes) then I'll buy it. I loved it back then but never owned it myself, just played it round friends or borrowed it.
