Normally, I'd give the standard "check completed listings on ebay" answer. But since I'm a little curious myself, I'll do all the legwork for you. I'm including the shipping costs with the total prices, BTW.
" Atary"7800 complete- with poor description and no pictures- $32 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Atary-7800-system-with-games_W0QQitemZ330353381089QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVide o_Games?hash=item4cea988ee1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
7800 w/ hookups and 9 games $41 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-7800-With-9-Great-games-Galaga-Pole-Position-2_W0QQitemZ200373623358QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Ga mes?hash=item2ea732da3e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
7800- working with 37 games $51 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-7800-system-with-37-games_W0QQitemZ250480527612QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVide o_Games?hash=item3a51cd88fc&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
Complete Boxed 7800 with 12 games for $116.50 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ATARI-7800-COMPLETE-SYSTEM-BOX-2-CONTROLLERS-12-GAMES_W0QQitemZ260458103715QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVide o_Games?hash=item3ca48343a3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)
Anyway, this is just a sample, as there are quite a few completed auctions. If you don't have an ebay account, I'd recommend signing up for one, because it's a good indicator of retail value for a lot of things. ("Retail," being the maximum value for an item.) You also have to take in consideration, the games that are included, because some might be rarer than others, and inflate the value of the system. Rarity is also meaningless to a a non collector, who just may want the system for nostalgia's sake. Also controllers or other parts in poor shape will also lower the value.

Jeez Louise on a bees knees. I paid $25 for a boxed 7800 with lots of joysticks and 12 games back in June. It was in perfect shape too. My box was in much better shape too. Wow!

Way more expensive than I was expecting too. That's in NES/SNES territory, I wonder why the interest in the 7800? Has it ever been this much in the past?

My guess is that due to a bunch of 2600 uncommons in there drove a bit more interest in the boxed 7800 auction. That or someone was really wanting it.

i bought one off ebay just a couple months ago with 13 games (all but two were common 2600 games) and everything i needed to get started for $30 shipped. it wasn't boxed but was in great condition (plastic still on the metal liner).

Its about $20 for a bare unit with joysticks and power supply at most IMO. Unless there's a huge and sudden upswing in 7800 popularity on ebay, but the boxed one quoted above is ridiculous, the others are about right though.
