my fav for mp was calypso and red lodus. btw, is red lodus mpa in vegas 2?

anyway if any of you dp members still play post your tag and i'll look you up. it would be cool to play agains some of the dp community

Just bought the first one and am going through the campaign to get used to the controls. I will try multi as soon as I finish the campaign. One thing I learned is that this is not a Call of Duty or Medal of Honor where you can rush through. You really have to make a plan or so it seems to me anyway to get through the levels..

Rainbow Six has never been about the CoD type run and gun. You do that, game is over. It's whats known as a Tactical Shooter.

I still play now and then, mostly T-Hunt on RSV2, but sometimes on 1 when I feel a challenge and want to take on The Dam.

Hoping for a new one in the series soon, though...

from what i head the fist one is better. if you ant neon vegas galore, 1 is the ticket. I just picked up one tonight. do you have 360 or ps3 version? make sure and download the map pack available. it adds about 4 new maps. including the awsome red lodus :)

let me know your gamer tag and i'll look you up if your ever up for a match. learn to use the c4 well for mp. i once slung a player all the way down the escalator from a c4 blast.good stuff....

i think the good thing about vega is the noobsand mainstreamers have moved on the the latest game out so that leaves alot of late adapors and rainbow six dedicated fans left on the servers.
my guess is it's a much more pleasant crowd.

still one of the best 360/ps3 games out.

after getting mw2 and playing the muliplayer I'm interested in picking up rainbow six vegas again. I really enjoyed the mw2 single player and mp is really fun on tactical hardcore mode but it's only making me crave some tactical rainbow action.

Hows the r6 vegas community on ps3? are there many people still playing? I haven't tried vegas 2. are the mp maps good. by the pics it seems like vegas 2 maps lack the neon glare of vegas 1. are there some cool indoor casino/hotel/office maps in vegas 2? i've heard people say vegas 2 models look really plasticy... what are the biggest differences in vegas 1 and 2? are there as many mp maps in vegas 2? did ubisoft make vegas 2 more casual? I hope not!! do the perks, sprinting, new items really make it a better game than the first vegas?

And if you go online AT ALL without having played the series religiously and know how everything works etc, there's absolutely no reason to even go online, because you won't stand a chance.

I picked up the game, played it, thought it was somewhat decent even though you send your allies in to clear everything out for you and it seems you just do all the tactical work first. Played online before I beat it, sold it the next day.

It was never really that good a game at all, but how badly I got beaten in the online mode, not just me but the entire team I was stuck on. I didn't care to attempt to get much better at the game by sinking days at a time into it. Since the game itself didn't interest me, that also didn't help from me selling the game.

yeah rainbow isn't for everyone. i remember the first time playing the first rainbow six port on dreamcast i fell in love. so yeah i'm a r6 fanboy :) r6 ravenshield was really cool too. when i got my hands on vegas for the first time i was blown away! it was heaven. you either love r6 or hate it. I happen to love it. the realism, the slow pace, the accurate gun recoil, the repelling.....just perfect.

the online mp is so fun! very deep and tactical teamwork driven. it's a great game to drink beer n play...hehe goes well with r6. becasue you want to take your time and plan your strategy. it really surprises me how many people don't understand how to play r6.

now the single player is really cool too. it's similar to graw how you finish one area of the city and the chopper transports you to the other section all in realtime. it really makes you feel like your not completing individual levels but rather you feel like your spending an evening hunting down terrorists in a city. the chopper flight between casinos can take a long time. you really feel like your in a rush to end the crisis.

so yeah i think i'll pick up vegas or vegas 2 tonight. if anyone here still plays it my psn is
"narcronomus" add me if you like.

Running is out in both games: you aren't encouraged to fire from the hip in Call of Duty either - certainly not 4 and Modern Warfare 2; the older ones on PC seem more forgiving about run & gun, in the vein of Medal of Honor. That doesn't mean that good players sit on their butt all day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt0XxfX-wj0) in Vegas, though. Both are among the fastest FPSes I've played - you don't bunny hop and rocket spam like Quake III, but there's just as many demands on your time.

Vegas was where the series is widely felt by its fans to have taken a turn away from realism, but people have been rushing around longer than that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofsa9XSERkU).

picked up vegas on ps3 and what a mistake. horrible! the 360 version destroys the ps3. on ps3 its grainy, blury, filled with jaggies, lots of souns, lighting and graphical effects are missing in the ps3 version. also online is verry laggy. im going to return it today and get vegas 2. i hope v2 is closer to the 360 version. dose vegas 2 on ps3 support duel shock?

How does R6 compare to Ghost Recon? Are they similar? I'm a big fan of Ghost Recon and I'm tired of waiting for a new one to be released.

Do you mean the GRAW-era or the original Ghost Recon games (which I have yet to play)?

From what I've heard, GRAW on consoles is more like Vegas, edging towards being like Gears of War. GRAW 2 on PC was (and probably still is) a terribly buggy port, but still very playable and even nice looking (as memory serves, the original was the game that Ageia's physics GPU sought to build its reputation on; thankfully you should be able to play this fine with any newer nVidia or even ATI GPU). There's some odd draw distance issues that mean careful players will have just the barest edge on an enemy before they pop into view. But beyond that it's more like the tactical shooters of old, but still pretty fun.

Also, for what it's worth Novalogic was slated to release a new Delta Force game, Angel Falls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Force:_Angel_Falls), earlier this year but the release date has been pushed back (again, I think) to 2010. Should be interesting to take a look at. I was able to get a taste of the old Delta Force games through GameTap but didn't get through them, unfortunately. The list of games in that series is huge (Wiki has a list in the Novalogic article).

Well i spent the better part of last night playing vegas 2(ps3 version) and i can say I'm impressed. I played a bit of both single and multi and it's better than the first game in a few area's. first of all the the experience points(XP) and perk rewards/ A.C.C.E.S system depending on your play style is pretty nice. you can unlock weapons, gear, armor etc.in the single player mode or multi player and carry over your unlocks/rank in either mode. nice. I have yet to try co-op mode but you can now play out the single player story in coop mode which is pretty cool. the duelshock3 feedback is very strong. all the guns have a nice kick and you will feel it when a nade explodes next to you :)

as for online matches they are as fun and tactical as ever. granted your better off with r6 veteran players that know how to play a r6 game. there are some cool new modes. the "High stakes" setting is for the true r6 hardcore players! this mode is only recommended if you played and are quite good at r6, r62,r6 raven shield.

"high Stakes mode include"
-limited hud
-no radar
-no grenade indicator
-no health regeneration
-cover system has changed so that you have to expose yourself to peek around corners
-bullet spread is increased when not zoomed in
-no aim assistance
-less ammo
-kill cam disabled
-friendly fire enabled and more

As for single player I am enjoying it. it really seems harder than vegas 1. you will die a lot!! enemies will kill you with single shots way more often in v2. your team members are more likely to die too. you just can't send them out in the open anymore. one example is when repelling if you don't command then and act quick they will be shot. you have much more deep command over your team in v2 too. closer to "Brothers in arms" command system. enemy a.i. is slightly smarter too. but it varries. I am particularly impressed with the voice acting. I have a female character and it's pretty damn good voice acting. she is loaded with personality. the conversations between her and the other team mates is fun to listen to and i actually care for her...well in a video game sort of way..hehe

the vegas 2 enviroments look good. it's a nice contrast to the first vegas where you were in night time neon casinos, resorts. this time it's daytime and your in convention centers, corporate offices, trendy upscale districts etc but you still get some bright city neon, casino and strip clubs here and there. :D unreal engine still looks good.

I'm lovin the team leader online mode. both teams have a team leader and it's up to the rest of the team to keep him protected. if your team leader is killed then no one else on the team can respawn. but if your team leader stays alive then your team can respawn. I love this mode. if forces players to use tactics. no run & gun! lol I've played the heck out of mw2 and i have to say as fun as mw2 is, vegas 2 is a lot more fun and tactical. makes mw2 feel like a arcade game.

r6 is a slow game of chess and mw is several fast games of tic tac toe LOL

Me and my friends play 1 and 2 very regularly on 360. Hit me up on my gamertag if you have it on 360 and we can run some t-hunt or something
