whitch console leads right now for everyone/teen rated games available? basicly fun, living room non fps games. is there a clear winner? i get the feeling ps3 is the winner concidering the larger japan user base.

I'm talking games like platformers, party, puzzle, adventure etc. and so on. iow, who has the most "wii" like expreience?

You are opening a big can of worms right now. Any questions regarding the XBOX 360 versus the PlayStation 3 end up in giant wars of fanboyism.
Flame on.

...

Japans user fanbase isnt the end all and be all for consoles. Besides, I think both consoles have there ups and downs for availiable games with no clear rift in who-is-better-than-who-in-regards-to-what.

I give this thread until the end of the day.
This is pure unadulterated flamebait. I expect kupomogli will be here any moment to post the entire PS3 library.

Not that I'm trying to stoke the flamewar fires; but how would a larger install base mean anything in regards to this argument? Especially considering that save for a few exclusives; even fewer of which are not in the categories you specifically listed; the libraries are nigh identical.
I'm just not understanding why it even matters how many have sold in Japan and how that makes one the clear winner over the other.

I'd actually say 360. It's got more XBL Arcade games like Uno, Contra, TMNT, etc, that are multiplayer.

Can't think of very many family friendly multiplayer games other than Little Big Planet for the PS3. Unless you count multiplayer fighting games.

*edit*

Oh yeah. PS3 can play Playstation games as well. That actually adds alot of classic platformer games and multiplayer games to the system. If you prefer digital downloads. The Japanese Playstation game download service is massive, the US download service sucks in comparison. All PS3 systems are BC for PSX also, while only 60, 20, and some 80GB are PS2 BC.

The 360 has the XBOX originals. The download file sizes are obviously much larger than a PSX game though. Also not sure what games are available for download.

I don't know how it can be considered flamebait, the answer is clearly the Xbox 360, even PS3 fans such as myself will tell you that.

You know guys, it is possible to rationally answer a question like this without descending into drooling fanboyism. So instead of spamming the "zomg flamebait" responses...give honest, constructive answers, and there shouldn't be any problems.

And yes, I'm on medication right now.

Anyway, I actually think kupmogli gives a fair answer. If you are just looking at what's available for the systems...discounting any backwards compatability...the 360 seems like the best choice. Now, full disclosure, I only have a 360...no PS3 as of yet. But XBLA has tons of fun, family-friendly multi-player games. Worms, Uno, Portal, Pac-Man CE, Geometry Wars, E4 and many others. There are also retail releases like Scene It, Viva Pinata, and Beautiful Katamari.

For the PS3, I admit I don't know the library of online games AT ALL (though I hear games like Flow, Super Stardust HD, and PixelJunk Monsters are very fun), and at retail you have Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank, the Buzz Quiz game and I'm sure there are more, I just don't know them.

You also have multi-platform games like the Lego Series, Kung Fu Panda (yes, it's fun!), Rock Band / Guitar Hero etc.

Seems like whichever direction you go, there will be plenty of options.

And that's not including any backwards compatible games you may include!

I don't really think this is flamebait, folks... anyway. Family fun games? Both systems have very violent games, and I don't know many family-friendly titles offhand (I don't have either system, but read about them at other places.) But I can try to help.

Karaoke:
PS3 has several Singstar titles, 360 has Lips. Both have a couple of Karaoke Revolution titles, I believe. And of course there's Rock Band.

Quiz games:
Both systems have Buzz! Trivia games.

Nope, not a fanboy, I own a PS3, Wii and a 360 and a pretty even amount of games for each system. I have just seen way too many of these threads before and they always land in the Retard Rickshaw section.

Buzz!™ is a 1st party Sony Computer Entertainment Europe developed title.

You're probably thinking of "Scene It!" for 360 which has similar controllers, but is not a Buzz! game.

This thread fails for leaving out the obvious solution...

PS3 and 360 are too similar to each other. The differences are very subtle. It has to devolve into drooling fanboyism because that is the biggest difference that actually exists between the two. The fandom factor.

Personally, I don't care. I'm going to select the one that offers me the most value for my money at the time I'm ready to buy one (was leaning 360, now PS3. Can still change). Eventually, I'll own them all and be actively building the collections for each. I've been operating in this mode since the 90's and it's working out pretty good so far.

I don't think there's much of a difference. 360 has a larger library for sure.

Wii obviously has the most Wii-like experience - what sort of question is that? If you want a Wii-like experience buy a Wii.

PC gaming can be done while slouched on the couch for sure. I'm typing this on my PC hooked to my TV while sitting in my easy chair, and I could just as easily play games.

Come on guys, did half you you even read the original post? He was asking which console, between the 360 and PS3, has more family friendly games available and you're all turning this into a GameFAQs post with your screaming about fanboyism and flamming.

To answer the question, discounting multiplatform games and backward compatibility, the 360 has more family friendly titles available, mostly because it's been available longer. I can't guarantee how many of them are that good, as a lot of the T and lower rated games are going to be either movie or TV show tie-ins, but also features some original titles like the Scene It! games, Fusion Frenzy 2, Lego Star Wars II and more (for a full listing check here, http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/familycentral.htm). As previously mentioned, Xbox Live Arcade also offers many family friendly titles with ports of classic arcade games (Joust, Gauntlet, ect.), ports of classic console games (Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3), and many other family friendly titles (Uno, Uno Rush, Wik: Fable of Souls, ect).

I haven't owned a PS3 yet, but I know they offer games like Buzz! and the upcoming Afrika, I'm not too sure about what's offered on PSN, but I know that scooterb23 listed some titles in his post on the first page. Anyway, I wish I could give you more help on the PS3 side, but since I haven't owned one I don't want to post a bunch of titles I know nothing about. I hope that this will be helpful.

Gaming is all about having fun, you will never make a mistake purchasing either system; both have great games and variety.

So, check the one that looks nicer for you or the cheaper, it's your call :D

That's a lie. The 360 has more games overall. More people own the 360.

However, the PS3 will last longer.

I don't think the PS3 or the 360 has an advantage over the other when it comes to T or E rated games. So many of these games are multi platform now, I don't think it really makes a big difference what system you have. The only reason I might give a slight edge to the PS3 is because you have a massive library of PS1 and PS2 games to choose from and play on your PS3 depending on what model you have. If you're talking about what system has the better lineup of games overall, I'd say they're pretty even. It pisses me off when people say the PS3 doesn't have any good exclusives, that was true for the first year or so, but people who make this argument now are either just retards or have been living in a cave for the last few years. The 360 has Halo and Gears, the PS3 has Killzone and Metal Gear, they both have their big games.

I think going into the future the PS3 will have the bigger selection of these types of games, if the PS1 and PS2 are any indicators? You've already got Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, and Hot Shots Golf, and I'm sure Jak and Daxter, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot will show up sooner or later on the PS3 either as full fledged games or budget download only games? You'll never beat Nintendo though when it comes to these types of games.

It not like this information isn't readily available on the internet, become an informed consumer yourself, people get tired of having to convince you what you like.

Especially with kids.

You're going to let other people decide what is right for your family? Ok well, my family blows the living hell out of Chimera in Resistance and we also chop people in half with chainsaws in Gears of War.

I really don't think many people are this narrow minded anymore and naming the topic "ps3 vs. 360" doesn't help. Drop the stereotypes they're boring.

Good enough answer for you?

BHvrd, double your dose of bitterness this morning? :) Whilei concider myself infored, i don't have a ps3 nor access to psn. jsut asking a few simple questions. I'm well aware of what's on store shelves. but not on psn. i don't see anything fanboyish about that.

versus is jsut a phrase to compare the two differet products. not saying in any way that i prefer one over the other. the fact that i have to spell this out just shows how sensitive you really are.
videogame fans come in all shapes and sizes. some are fanboys some are not. stop trying to inject a fairness doctrine into a vidoegame forum. whos is stereotyping here? since when was asking a few questions about kids rated games for two different platforms in an objectionable way stereotyping?

oh and btw, i don't know how old your family is but there is a reason some games are rated mature. gears of war isn't suitable for kids imo. but then again some people concided a tv a babysitter :)

That point is absolutely void. Since the vast majority of models do not play PS2 games and current models do not play PS2 games, you cant use that as a defence for a slight edge. That's like saying that the PS2 has a slight edge over the original XBOX because it used to have an expansion slot.

Well the original 60GB, 20GB, the Motorstorm/80GB, and Metal Gear/80GB all play PS2 and PS1 games to some extent. Even if you don't agree with me on this, I would still give the PS3 a slight over the 360 when it comes to "everybody" type games if the PS2 and PS1 are any indicators. Right now it might be less than a slight edge, they both might be even with these types of games, I'm just saying based on history Sony has had more of these types of games than MS, but hey that could change.
