Majora's Mask Guitar?

Back in the January 2001 issue of Nintendo Power (Spiderman is on the cover) there was a contest held to commemorate Majora's Mask. The grand prize winner won a custom fish bone guitar by Jackson, made to look like the one Zora Link uses.

I was wondering what ever happened to this?

Looks like a guitar you would see someone in Gwar using. That is an amazing looking guitar though and it would be nice to find more info on it.

WARNING, RUMOR!

One of my friends claims to have won the prize which he sold to one of his cousins. Not sure what happened to it from there. He made this claim when we first became friends and we were somewhat young, 7th grade. I'll ask about it when I next talk to him which will hopefully be when he gets back to his computer.

As something to whet your appetites while I research this rumor, I think the conversation was brought up when I mentioned entering the best of E3 2002 game contest to him. He mentioned having won a NP contest once and received the Majora's Mask guitar which he sold to his cousin. I don't think I believed him too much at the time. I had no idea about the contest as I wasn't a NP subscriber at the time. If anyone knows of a winner's list available I can obviously confirm it that way.

Wow, I wish I had that guitar. It would be cool if it was an unlockable guitar in one of the Guitar Hero or Rock Band games on Wii.

As I recall, one of them (the first one I think) was presented to Miyamoto at some public thing (E3, maybe).

Pretty awesome looking except for the way the paint gradient reminds me of a van job (you know what I mean...right?)

I saw one of these at a convetion a few years ago. Locked in a plexi case and watched like a hawk.

I had a friend do that in 7th grade too, for this exact same contest. He was full of shit, as usual. :)

Yep, my friend was lying about it. His excuse was him trying to be bad ass. Can't really blame him considering we were in 7th grade. I didn't have too much faith in the story to begin with, but figured I'd investigate anyway. Hopefully no one got any false hope.
