These are hysterical. It's the same dude who was in the MLB 09 commercial...I think he should be in all of their ads from this point forward.
But I dunno what's up with the prominent blue color. I thought they were pushing red as theirs?

I'm amazed that Sony's ad agency was able to replicate the awesomeness of Pedey's ad for MLB 09. Bravo, Sony!

Sony's finally saying in their commercials what their product does. That's great. But, I thought the humor was stupid and like every other comedy commercial. Maybe I'm just boring.

Good thing Sony didn't try the over the top experimental & controversial commercial.

Well the only problem is the advertisements are misleading. A common complaint among people is that it cannot actually do everything. Many people are upset with the lack of a certain feature. Yes, the feature gamers have been clamoring about, the fact that the PS3 cannot cure cancer at this time. Hopefully Sony will wise up and add this feature in later revisions of the PS3 Slim.

Either that was an attempt at a joke or you don't realize that PS3's have Folding@Home as an application. Also known as research software for curing cancer.

Times they are a changin'. They've been scraping the bottom for marketing up to this point. 'This is Living', the creepy as hell baby and alliwantforxmasisapsp... Epic Madmen slump.

It just occured to me that I've never seen a PS3 ad on tv. I've seen ads for pS3 games, but never the hardware.

You know, it's good that they just didn't use that "THE THIRD PLACE" tagline (I watched the Lynch Bambi commercial just now).

Removal of the Emotion Engine chip was not only a cost saving move, but a system saving move as well. ( hint: They still make PS2 systems and games )
I am confident that PS2 Backwards compatability will return to the PS3 ( via Emulation software ) AFTER the PS2 is discontinued and game production is ceased.
If you want to play PS2 Games, buy a PS2, they are dirt cheap.
Sure, you cant buy a PS1 in retail anymore, thats why the PS2 and PS3 play PS1 Games.
It was a smart move from a business aspect.

Completely disagree. There are countless millions of people that gladly wanted to trade up for a PS3, and probably wanted to use their PS2 to do so for trade in credit. Not having BC in their system even via software EMU was a STUPID move.
Another thing that they could totally do is offer older PS2 games via PSN.
By the time the PS2 is discontinued, putting backwards compatibility in would be a waste. By now most people have chosen either to buy a PS3 or not.
Search the boards, there were countless folks that wanted one thing when the PS3 slim was announced....backwards compatibility. It was a missed opportunity to turn the tides fully.
It does not cost much to have a program software BC run on the PS3. Showing that the system is in distant third, I see this a valid point to show that their moves so far for this generation have been WRONG.
This holiday will show if they have done the right moves, otherwise count me on the side of "stupid move to not have BC in"
P.S. Both competitors have a form of BC as well. No excuse.

There's no way the PS3 could ever emulate the PS2 entirely in software.
That's like expecting a Dreamcast to be able to emulate the Saturn.

Seriously?
It's pointless to make any thread here about Sony since all they turn into are bitchfests and whatnot over backwards-compatibility.

Yeah, it was an attempt at a joke that totally failed because I had no idea bout Folding@Home. I remembered reading about the PS3 being used to cure something, but wasn't sure if it was just a prerelease rumor or what.
I hope somebody does get what the joke was supposed to lead up to.
In another light, the PS3 technically can't cure cancer even with Folding@Home. It can only help us find ways to cure cancer at this time. Even if a cure is found the PS3 will not be said to have cured cancer, the researchers will be said to or their results will. Well excluding game sites which will boast this feat.
