So, I just picked up an old MSX computer from Hard-Off today for the very difficult price of 525 yen. :)
I don't really know much about the system, other than some of the earliest Komami games like Vampire Killer, Metal Gear, Nemesis, Parodius, etc. were on it. After doing a slight bit of research, it seems that an MSX2 system is required for pretty much all of the interesting games (ie. Komami games). My 525yen system is a 1983 model Sanyo Wavy MPC-10 MSX-1. In other words, it's quite the underpowered system. That being said, it looks very nice (ummm... aside from the missing "V" key; hence the 525yen price tag). It's very lightweight and has the power cord built in, which is a nice alternative to having to plug in an AC adapter.
Does anyone here know much about the MSX? Are there any worthwhile games to be had on it? I'd pick up an MSX2, except that I'm pretty cheap these days and don't really want to spend more than a few thousand yen on something like this. Most MSX2 systems I come across are in the 10,000yen range. It might be going back to Hard-Off. :P Oh well, at least I can say I've owned an MSX!

Sometimes I answer my own questions...

Still, this list doesn't look complete to me. It seems, perhaps, to be a list of European games?

My experience with the MSX is pretty limited, just to the Antique packs that made it onto the Playstation. Seems like there are some pretty interesting titles on there, if you don't mind the jerky scrolling. Worth it to see some of the early classic franchises, I would guess.

Still, now that it seems like my old MSX-1 will play quite a few games, I think I'll try and pick out a couple just for the hell of it. Only if they're cheap, though! We'll see if I hang onto it or not...
