Some crazy idiot at eBay decided to remove some of my auctions, because they are imported games!

As a reason they give:
On ebay it's not allowed to place items that allow you to play imports or copies of videogames.

Since when do import games allow importgames to be played?

And the strange thing is, they left my action reply, which allows you to play import games, alone!

I'm pretty pissed about it. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Does this happen more often?

They appear to do this randomly and for no apparent reason. I had my eye on a Mega Man: Wily Wars a couple of years ago, but it got pulled because it was in the States...

And I have heard of a couple of other occasions ... but on the whole it seems to be a fairly rare occurence. And yes, they often do leave things up that DO contravene the rules. There was a Super Magic Drive on ebay UK a week or so ago, and the text stated outright that it came with a bunch of copied games on disks. I emailed the guy to warn him that it might be pulled, and to express my interest if it was. To my suprise, nothing happened to it. Bizarre. And I got outbid as well :sob:

And I sold a N64 Disk Doctor and a SNES backup unit on ebay as well. The disk doctor went fine, no problems. However the SNES unit, the auction was cancelled .... after it had finished!! Which was kind of nice, because they refunded all the fees - and I sold the thing to the winning bidder anyway! :-D

Sorry to hear about your auctions Arr ... I would just put them back up again. They'll probably be fine. Or just donate it all to me :-) More seriously .. if they are Megadrive or Saturn imports then I might consider trading if you have anything interesting..

Those Ebay monitors don't know everything which is good and bad at the same time. Sometimes like in the above case they see certain words in the listings and because they think they are experts at determining invalid auctions they remove them. But like Action Replay they have no idea that it can be used to do something that they are against so they leave that alone.
Its all in the words used to list an item and usually not the actual type of item that they search for in my experience anyways. 8-)

In other words, they need one of us to police the VG game area! :D

They are just plain wacked. I tried to sell a few Dreamcast imports a few years ago and they got pulled and I received a warning from ebay. Then, I listed the exact same imports a year later. Those went through without any trouble. I really don't see anything "infringing" about imports. Hell, without them I would not be able to score my PC Engine stuff at all.

This seems to be most common with Sega stuff... I too listed some Dreamcast import and they were promptly pulled. Go figure :D

A quick email from a concerned "competetor" is usually the cause.

Someone else told me that as well, but I find it very hard to imagine a 'competitor' would actually do that.
I sent ebay an e-mail and I'll just replace the items this thursday. I'll see how it goes.
