THAT KID STOLE YOUR GAMEGEAR...for shame!

It probably weighs more than her with all those batteries...

I'd be proud she managed to do it before the batteries died.

NOOOOO! Take that away and tell her to go play DS or PSP like all the other kids. We don't need to teach our kids to enjoy these INFERIOR systems!:D

but but it's classic, it's what i grew up with. she's gonna be trained the same way i grew up, i did it with my 9 year old stepdaughter and now she's a pro at games. started her at around the same age!

What's holding the batteries in? Looks like you're missing a snap cover.

Im glad that some kids now find older games and consoles entertaining. :)

Don't get her hopes up and let her play Sonic 2 for Game Gear.

Your daughter will have nightmares setting her eyes upon the very first boss.

That's ADORABLE.

Also, it looks gigantic compared to her, lol.

Seeing her hold up that Game Gear reminds me of cell phones from the 80's: too big to conviently put in your pocket or to carry in anything smaller than a backpack.

Why does everyone here hate the Game Gear? I think it's a great system with great games, and the battery life is enough to finish Sonic the Hedgehog skaar.

Great system, show her the Disney games next!

It's certainly got enough good games, and besides when you're little the games and the screen don't seem so bad. You probably won't find me playing Sonic games on it much though. Shinobi is more my style.

Oh, cute picture by the way, no doubt this is good practice for lifting weights :eek 2:

How cute! She looks like she's having a hell of a good time!

I gotta confess I feel a little envious right now. My daughter is almost six and hasn't got the hang of videogames yet. She has no patience to actually learn how to play; as long as she dies twice, she gets pissed and quits. She does seem to like Sonic a lot, though, and gives it a few tries on the Genesis...but only a few.

I'm surprised she can hold it without falling over.

Don't confuse our poking fun at GameGear with hate. Some of us like Mario but we can still call him fat.

That is awesome! Cute kid, you should be proud! Nothing is better than playing old school games with your kids. I am currently playing Atari with my son every night before bed.

We are both loving "Warring Worms II" on the 2600. Great game! His kindergarden teacher was shocked to hear him talking about Atari. He came home one day from school and said his teacher use to play Atari with her dad when she was young! I know my son has a good teacher.

awww she is so cute. I'm glad she is having fun with some good old retro gaming. Hey you should get her defenders of oasis since it has a lot of text it can help her to read as well!

Now you should teach her the phrase, "All your Gamegear are belong to us!" LOL

That's awesome. I never even touched a home-based video game until I was 4 to 5. I'd say, she's well ahead of the curve. :D

Yeah if I have a kid I want to do the same thing. Let them try out simpler things when they are young and they will probably appreciate the old stuff along with the new and also enjoy my collection.

When I was 3 the only video game I had was a handheld Entex Space Invader. It wasn't the best version of the game but it still allowed me to appreciate 70s and 80s arcade games.

haha, that's awesome. My little sister likes to play on my GameGear sometimes. She's about 7.

I never had one growing up, bought mine at a thrift store about last year or so.

It came with a charger cable, so I don't have to worry about battery life, it's just not very portable.

But it's a great system. Lots of fun. I especially like Dragon Crystal.

Thats a great picture!

My children also enjoy playing classic games!
My two year old found the Lynx and was messing around with it! LOL I could see the struggle she had to lift it and hold it due to its size and weight(was fully loaded with batteries!)

Young children will love the more older games better when they play them first. Let them discover new/current stuff when they are influenced by their classmates. And their friends will see you as the "cool" parent when they see your massive games collection!

That's incredible! She must have great eyesight, because I can barely play my Game Gear without one of those magnifier contraptions.

Most children's eyesight and hearing are at peek levels! They have great perception to the environment around them too. My children are always pointing things out that I would not have noticed had they not mention it…
