I have a NES SNES N64 and Atari 7800. I haven't played in like 10 years. all are still in the original boxes. I hooked up my N64 to play the other day and it worked fine for about 5 minutes, then the game shut off. Took out the game and such and tried again and 5 minutes later same thing. what could cause this? Also, with my other systems do i need anything special, especially with my Atari 7800 to work on my Vizio 42" HDTV? Thanks for helping a newbie.

Try cleaning the contacts with alcohol or goof off.

If your Atari 7800 uses the same RF cord as the NES, you should have no problems connecting it to your TV. If it uses the Atari 2600 TV connector with antenna cables you will need a converter, but its easier to just use the NES's RF cord.

As for the game shutting off, is the console shutting off or the game just crashing? If it is the console it could be a bad power supply or a loose power supply. I remember people saying some N64 power supplies don't last too long, so you may need a new one if all else fails. Try cleaning the connectors anyway though. Alternatively, try more than one game.
