What is a fair price for this lot? I am thinking about putting it up on eBay at a buy it now. I need the cash for school. Everything is complete and for the most part in excellent condition.

Thats worth a whole lot of pocket change. But I would recommend listing Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario Rpg, Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy III seperately. You'll get much more money for them that way and since you are doing this for money, thats your best bet. The other games would be better suited in a bundle along with the Snes, although you could also sell the Snes seperately too.
And by seperately, I mean each game(and system) in it's own auction. That will help maximize your profits. As for how much all of this is worth, $500-$1,200 easily, though probably quite a bit more if sold like I instructed.

Beautiful lot. I agree with 12P though, listing the games he said seperately would most likely increase the amount of money you make.

Definitely sell individually, unless you want to get 20% less.

i hate to sound repetitive, but ya split up the better games, i actually sold a cib zelda for $33 like a month ago. so cib snes are pretty high right now i guess. You have a real nice lot there, good luck with it.

And post the link to the auction(s) when you list em. :)

Yeah, you literally have no filler titles in there, so you are best selling individually. If it was half sports games... yeah, maybe a lot would be best. But almost all, if not all, of those titles can stand on their own.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I would love to sell this as a lot and realize I would get more if I broke it all up but don't want to put all the effort in. 20% though is significant and would be worth it. If I post it I will definitely put the link up here. I need to think it over a little more before I do that since this is my collection I have been building for years.

It kinda seems to me like the cost of CIB games on eBay is down at the moment. I searched completed listing for Secret of Mana and was shocked to see them going for around $50. I seem to remember a time when mint CIB copies of Secret of Mana were going for as much as $100 and up.

That lot's worth a good amount of change, since all the titles in there are pretty much A+ and in demand, especially the minty RPGs, your best bet is to sell them separately.

I would try the local Craigslist and see if people are willing to buy them. That way you don't have to deal with shipping. If no one is interested, sell it to ebay.

I think most games that have gotten a Wii VC release are seeing a decline in their prices. I bought a CIB Secret of Mana for $25 shipped a few months ago. The big money is going to come from Earthbound and Chrono Trigger, with Super Mario RPG trailing a little behind, and then the rest being $20~30 apiece. (Haven't been following the CIB price on FF3, but I'd imagine it's around $50 or so. The cart only is around $20.)

This has been happening for the last year or so, even before VC releases on the Wii started receiving all these popular titles. In another thread earlier this year we were discussing how factory sealed games like Super Castlevania IV, Super Metroid, and Ninja Gaiden Trilogy no longer command what they did 2-3 years ago. That goes for many more factory sealed Snes and Genesis games, so the same applies to opened mint copies of those games as well. They have all been dropping in price compared to a few years ago.

Except some games which have shot up in price, like Earthbound.

True. That and Chrono Trigger(even sealed copies) still command the ultimate premium. If only I could find a sealed case of Chrono Trigger...

Ha I put it up on craigslist for shits and giggles. Not really expecting any serious buyers but it's worth a shot.

Hopefully that won't happen to Earthbound when it is finally released on the VC.
Also I have had some interest on the boards here (the sought after titles almost exclusively) but I am looking for top dollar since I really don't want to sell this stuff. Will probably just wait till the Christmas season and throw them up at high BIN's. In the meantime I am going to find some stuff I can part with on the cheap and not have to regret it down the road. Maybe some of the easier to find titles from my SNES collection.

I actually don't think Earthbound is going to end up being a VC release. Could be wrong, but I keep hearing it won't be.

I've been hearing the same thing about Earthbound. Some rumors about too much music sampled from copyrighted songs makes for the game to not be released on Virtual Console.
And Chrono Trigger is just Chrono Trigger. They could probably re-release that game 1000 times and it'd STILL be worth a lot.

Chrono Trigger imo is second only to FFVII for beloved-RPG-fandomitis. The only difference is there are probably 2x the amount of copies of FFVII and it still is coveted beyond belief.

I dunnnnoooooo, what about Kingdom Hearts? Persona 2 is in the running too...the fan base more than makes up with their small size with sheer intensity
If I had to do an estimate on that full collection, I'd say ~$400-450. I'm sure you could squeeze more out of it by selling on ebay and chasing every cent, but that's just blah.
btw, I sent you a pm about the games. I'm interested in some (or all if you cut me a deal on the lot). :)

Neither of those are even close. When KH or Persona get a US released DVD movie or 3 rereleases, then we can talk.

well whats an snes 2 then? I was thinking $20 on zelda, $50 on secret of mana, $65-75 (sounds high but for some reason I think he could if it's mint), $50 on mario rpg...
oh, I guess I'm putting earthbound too low if you guys are sure about $250. I saw someone with one the other day that hadn't sold at like $200, so I had it at ~$150.

Even in a bundle that lot would sell for a minimum of $500 as long as he properly advertised it on sites such as this. You can see that he's already received quite a bit of interest in all of the key titles. Priced seperatly on ebay he could very easily reach four figures for that lot, though probably more than that. See my first post(the second post of this thread) for a more accurate estimate for what this bundle is really worth.

09-10-2009, 05:02 AM
ah, I see. Where was I off is what I'm wondering...is an SNES 2 worth that much?
I dunno though, I still don't think $450 is way off unless I totally missed a game or something. In a bundle sold on DP, it would probably get what, 550-600 TOPS?
So don't laugh at me :(
Besides, I wasn't gonna buy his whole lot, I'm not that rich...I could just really use a Mario RPG copy soon.
mobiusclimber
09-10-2009, 06:00 PM
Earthbound = $200~250
Chrono Trigger = $80~100
Super Mario RPG = $60~80
Secret of Mana = $30~40
Final Fantasy III = $30~60
Shadowrun = $30~40
Chrono Trigger Strat Guide = $30~40
Secret of Mana Strat Guide = $30~40
SNES 2 = $50~60
Everything else is around $20 apiece (a few maybe $30, but in a bundle I think $20 is fair).

Yeah, see, that's about what I ahd in mind mobius...I had mario rpg at $50 tops though, and earthbound at 175. I'm not thinking of top-end ebay prices, I'm thinking of legitimate DP forum prices.
You may be a little low on secret of mana, although I agree it's fallen dramatically.
I guess I'm just confused. You guys laugh at my estimate, and then basically agree with my numbers? :o I didn't count those strategy guides as anything though, and $30 is a little high on a lot of those games. Mario Kart is $15, Mario All stars $20-25, and that's about all I can think of for the lesser titles. You guys might think earthbound is this huge game because of a few ebay sales, but I've seen copies sit around for a bit at ~200

Uh, no. mobiusclimber quoted $480 for six games, the system and the guides and that's on the low end of his estimates. That doesn't include the 10 other games in the lot. Even at $10 each for the others (reasonable, it's SNES after all), that's almost $600 on the lowest end of the chart. Your estimate was $450 for everything.
The point is you made a post saying 'Oh this isn't worth much' and then immediately after saying that said 'PM sent, I'm interested!'. You telegraphed poorly a move to try and keep evil_genius's expectations down. That's what we're laughing at. That, and your backpedaling.
ErmangelnSeelen
09-11-2009, 08:17 PM
there's no backpedaling here, I stand by my answer pretty much (maybe add $75-100, I didn't know the guides were worth anything), keep in mind I only put about $150 on earthbound. That may account for discrepencies. I don't see FFIII at $60, not feeling chrono at $100, and when I bought my CIB Zelda, it was $15, and I think that's still reasonable. I just needed a copy of mario rpg, so I pmed him. didn't I even say that he could get more than that? that was by no means an offer.
I'm not trying to get in on the cheap..it was pretty obvious he was going to wait for other opinions. Whatever, I'm not even going to try to explain anything, this is just stupid. I may not be here all the time, but I'm around enough to not pull a dick move like that, and you accusing me of it is frustrating.
OP, if you part if out, I'd buy mario rpg from you.
mobiusclimber
09-12-2009, 11:31 AM
I stand by my estimates. I am a reseller, I know what this stuff's worth, I know what it sells for. OP doesn't even sound like he's going to be selling it on DP, so skinflint resellers like me who wouldn't give full value on this stuff are not even going to be a consideration, but even if we were the low end of my estimates would apply.
