I was on a site and it had ps3 games you should buy and games to avoid Resistance: Fall of Man was on the avoid list I think that's crap. So do you guys agree or not about this game

Sure, Resistance was a flagship title when the PS3 was first released, but given the advances in technology, wider range of FPS titles out there and the game’s release date, we can do much better than Resistance in this day and age. The textures are duller than stale, mouldy bread, while the gunplay severely needs an injection of super morphine. Yeah, I said it. This, without doubt, isn’t the PS3-exclusive you should show to your friends.

Who cares. First off, it's a first person shooter, which both 360 and PS3 get ATLEAST one a month. Second, it was thrown out there as a launch title with Killzone 2 being worked on since launch to get out there.

If you're tired of one first person shooter. Wait until next month. Having one shitty FPS or one you got bored of doesn't make a difference because new ones are released so often.

Finally. FPS games suck, go play another genre, unless it's Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, then you're fine. If you're also a die hard FPS fan, why the hell are you playing other FPS games when you could still be playing the Unreal games? What's the matter with you buying crap like Wolfenstein PS360, Halo 3, Killzone 2, etc.

I thought Resistance was surprisingly entertaining. The gameplay was generic, but the enemies were interesting, and the alternate WWII setting was fun and interesting. It wasn't the best FPS I've EVER played, but it was solid, I enjoyed it, and I blew through the whole game in a weekend. Definitely worth playing, especially at the price it's at now.

Not worth $60 though, I'd admit that. The second one is even better.

So some guy on some website thinks it's a bad game?

From what I've played of it I thought it was ok.

Resistance was surprisingly good. You have to keep in mind that when it came out, it was really THE ONLY game for PS3 that wasn't a broken mess or inferior port.

Resistance is a great game for $30. When is was $60, maybe not so much, depends on who you ask? It was a launch title, so what do you expect? Resistance 2 is a better game though in almost every way. I would pick Killzone 2 over them though. Kupomogli is right though, there's a new FPS coming out for PS3 and/or the 360 every month, it's getting so over saturated. Although I guess the FPS genre has been over saturated for a while, now it's just fucking ridiculous! I remember it was like this with fighting games in the 90's, just not as much.

The game or the list?

No.

You mean like Resistance 2?

The textures are duller than stale, mouldy bread, while the gunplay severely needs an injection of super morphine.

I'm not sure that all of us know how dull stale, moldy bread tastes.

Yeah, I said it. This, without doubt, isn’t the PS3-exclusive you should show to your friends.

Yeah, show them Motorstorm or Super Stardust if they want to see a state-of-the-art PS3 exclusive.

At the time you couldn't beat the 60 player online. It had absolutely no lag and was just pure insanity. MAG is now set to break that record and all in all Resistance 2 is much better than 1, but at the time it worked and showed what was possible. It had some really good animations in certain sections like the chimera breeding facility.

It's a great game. It was the title to have for the PS3 early on.

The sequel is better. Buy both....have fun.

Ditto Kid Ice's comments...

I thought it was a pretty lame game. It was an ok game in my opinion, but there are way better FPS's out there, and I believe Resistance is overrated. I would rather play Halo, and I don't think Halo is that great of a game either.

Both Resistances are pretty lame. They are both average FPS's(and there are plenty of them out there for every system), and if you have played any other average FPS in the past 5 years thats what Resistance offers. It had a good online community but I heard it deminished. Its a bit hyped by fanboys of the PS3 but if it were a multiplat game it would have fallen into obscurity. If you want an average FPS for the PS3 get Killzone 2, as the multiplayer community is more active. You are probably better putting your money to Call of Duty 6 or "M.A.G".

People are going to have thier opinions of the game. I have to be honest that I was mildly dissapointed with the game when I first played it. The title did grow on me. Over time, I would recommend the title for any PS3 owner who wants a decent console exclusive who enjoys First Person Shooters. It is not a Halo Killer, by far. It is however, above average with enough unique things in it to be still deemed an excellent value at sub $20. You can do much worse.

You can do much worse.

Vampire Rain for example.

OP: your attempts at simile and inflammatory language would be far better with some grammar. Get off my lawn, etc. etc. etc.

Resistance: Loss of Consciousness is more like it. I didn't play it at launch, so that may be it, but I found it dull as hell. The sequel was better but not much. I guess they're worth playing through cheap now though.

I'm interested in playing the game, but I hope is picking up a copy for like $10.

Yes, I'm cheap. :)

Add me to the stack of didn't like it. I've never been too in love with console FPSes (being bred on PC Doom, Quake and UT will do that) but I didn't find anything special here and it didn't engage me. The concept of World War II... with Aliens! didn't flare any neurons, if you will.

I agree Resistance wasn't all it was supposed to be, but it's far from avoid list worthy.

What about Xbox 360s debut "flagship" FPS?

I bought Perfect Dark Zero because I thought it was going to be as good as the original. I was wrong :(. If you asked me it sucked.

*edit*

I really didn't have many 360 games and the ones I did have I only played online. When I got Perfect Dark(used because I'm not an FPS fan) I didn't have XBL so played multiplayer with some friends at my house. Two people actually. How big the majority of the maps were, it sucked with three people and I would say you probably need a minimum of 5-10 to have a somewhat enjoyable experience on most maps. The guns were crap too in comparison to the amazing ones they had on the first game.

Seems everyone is playing it and then declaring it not that good.

Strange.

Perfect Dark Zero rocked for the $10 it cost me. I can't see anyone paying full price for it.

I like Resistance well enough but I found the first section, before you get the ability to regenerate health, unreasonably hard so that made it difficult to get into.

I still play this game online, online play is just fantastic. It's a shame what they did to it in Resistance 2 to attract the CoD & Halo fanbase. You'd be surprised on how many people still play online.

What do you mean? I don't own the games but from what I've read it seems like the online would be better than the first game. Having a ranking system and things to earn isn't stealing, it's the same as leveling up in a single player campaign in any other shooter (Ratchet and Clank) except it's in the multiplayer. Also the game has a separate campaign just for co-op. Why do people complain about a game having more to do? Is there something I'm missing?

reminds me of Gears 1 I went back to that game and many people still play. Plus Gears 1 for an earlier game, it has some of the best multiplayer achievements...ever.
