I've been playing this game for almost 7 hours straight now. It's very very addicting! I paid off my house in one day :)
I wish some of the townspeople were nicer. One of them was like "geez, am I your only friend? Pathetic!" and two of the girls keep telling me that I have no fashion sense. I also wish they would stop repainting my roof!

Anyway, I thought you guys would be most interested to know that Donkey Kong Jr Math and Balloon Fight are the NES games you get free with the first time you save on the memory card (included). You just drop them in your house (like furniture) and it shows up as a little nes with the box cart on top. Very cute! :D

Did the manual make any reference to playing those games on GBA? There's supposed to be a way to play classic NES games on GBA other than the ecard reader (due next week I think) and it has a few more classic NES games.

yep, the manual explains everything. There's an atm like looking machine at the post office that is your e-card reader helper. It did mention that you can only scan the cards once a day but if it's giving you items that doesn't really matter.

It's really difficult to play after 1am or so though, a lot of the animals go to sleep, or tell you you should be in bed :P and the store is only open 9am-10pm. The scariest thing that's happened to me is I was shaking trees (I had gotten some bags of 100 bells (gold) and even a piece of furniture before this happened) and some bees fell out and stung me! My eye is swollen shut and yucky looking, and of course everyone had to tell me how scary I looked "is that you?!" "looks like bees had a birthday party on your face" "I wouldn't be walking around in public if I were you". Geez. I'm hoping it's back to normal by tomorrow.

Can you play the classic games in the game insted of on the GBA?

yep. I haven't hooked up my GBA yet, you can just "use" the nes (like the balloon fight or the DKJ Math) and it goes to NES mode. you have to press l,r and z at the same time to exit back to the game.

edit: Hey, I was wrong!!! Here's an UPDATED list....

There's a total of 10 NES games in Animal Crossing (and they are obviously going to be the most sought-after items in the game)
Here are the ones I can remember:

(I know that there are 12 in the list, but I've synthesized several lists from various sources...all of them are possibilities)

If this game is best played during the day.. I guess that means it won't like my typical game playing times of 11pm-1am (after work, the end of the day).. either that or I'd have to set my Gamecube clock all funny. :?

Punchout!

I really doubt that, Punchout runs on different hardware than the other games in the list. That's a tough game to emulate, and Nintendo seems to have gotten lazy with their NES emulation, sticking purely to MMC1.

AFAIK the original Mike Tyson Punch Out uses MMC2 (the only one using that) while the rerelease version without Mike uses MMC3

hmm, I'm no techie, but I thought they were both MMC2.

Either way, though, neither is MMC1, which is what every officially-emulated NES game has been so far.

Yes, officially emulated Punch-Out sounds too good to be true....

I found it on a list at one of the "older" U.S. Animal Crossing websites (all of them are pretty new)

EGM Stated that there were "about 20" or "more than 20" something like that.... Total NES games in Animal Crossing.

Sadly you won't even be able to do that properly. A character called Mr Resetti will scold you (on an increasing scale) every time you either reset the game or fiddle with the internal clock (yes, somehow the game will be able to tell!). Eventually bad things will happen!

There was a video on IGN Insider a while ago of animal crossing running Punchout!. The video was from the japanese version, but I'm guessing that Punchout! will indeed be in US version of the game.

How odd. I'll be a pathetic guy sitting at home playing a videogame where I'm a pathetic guy sitting at home playing OLDER videogames.
