Does anyone here collect strategy/player's guides?

I have about 20, but I have not catalogued them yet

There's a few of us. I'm around 150+ at the moment...and I know there's a few people that have a fair number more than me.

I think I have about the same as maxlords. Someone posted pictures of their collection awhile back and it took up three full bookcases (I think). Well over a thousand guides in their collection.

We probably have the same amount, 150ish. Not actively collecting, but grabbing anything cheap (i.e. pennied out) or notable.

I do, but currently not actively. Also only for the PlayStation, maybe Saturn one day. The problem is the variant bug hit me with the guides, which is a dangerous thing. <_<;;

I have like, 4 or 5 magazine boxes full of them...all bagged / boarded.

I have never counted them, but I have 2 six foot shelves which are filled with just guides.

I was going through what I have the other day and realized I have more than a handful from the Playstation/64 era. I'm trying to decide if I want to go after those too...even though I'm already collecting waaaay too many things. I think the plan is to put myself in a position where I'll be collecting for a lifetime.

Those of you who are collecting, any "beginning" advice for a strategy guide collector?

Dude, I like you. I do.

But now you're completely fucking crazy. You weren't before and your level of OCD was something I admired. But now? You need help. :P

Pretty much why I stopped going after guides in general. Though truth be told, I wouldn't mind at least having scans of the variants for the web-site. It usually wasn't THAT bad, but the second you have a big game game (SMackdown, Final Fantasy), you'd get store exclusive covers, posters, etc, plus reprints. 90% of all guides were one print run, one version.

I'm NOT that bad. I'm not going after screw variant carts, after all. ;D

I definitely have well over 100 strategy guides from the Nes era to current gen, the majority of which were bought on the cheap from pennied out sales. I've also used many of those pennied out guides to make well over $200 in just the last year alone.

Unlike alot of other guide collectors, I also collect Japanese import strategy guides. The numbers aren't super impressive yet(around 20 or so) but it's still growing. However, if I added all my Japanese import video game magazines(Famitsu, many variations of Playstation mags with import demo disc, N64, Saturn, etc) then I'd definitely have another 100. But guides and mags are seperate and thats the way I like to keep them.

I'm not sure on my number, but it might be approaching 100. Most of mine are from the last gen. I've pretty much tried to get guides for any good games that I was planning on picking up and ones that I have. My main focus was on RPG guides.

I managed to get most of my guides from stores when they pennied them out. Best Buy was my main source. Unfortunately, they have really gotten strict this year. TRU has always been strict in my area and GS got really strict in the last two years.
