View Full Version : Old IBM PC games

Well, I recently got a whole bunch of old PC games from a store that closed down, and a few I have had for years.
Most of the ones from the store are brand new or near mint, with all maps, protection wheels etc etc.
I tried looking for of them on Ebay, but I guess they're a little too old as I could only find a couple, and of those I could find they were the cheap rereleases.
So any idea on prices and hard to find games in this lot?

Any help would be great :)

stuff that jumps out at me:
Leisure Suit Larry Ultimate pleasure pack
Monkey Island Madness (I think that's what that is)
Aliens Ate My Babysitter
Star Wars games are nice in that condition, but not sure if they are worth much. Never heard of that Indiana Jones game, so that could be something. There are several others I haven't heard of either, so I'm only mentioning stuff I'm a little familiar with.
The other Keen games, Ultima Series, and Might and Magic might all be worth a second look, too.
What's the one with the glare?

I think that one is Planet's Edge: The Point of No Return from the same dudes that bought you Might and Magic... or something.

I'd say the Keens, anything LucasArts, Sierra or Ultimas would be a good list on their own.

I'm pretty sure the Keen and Rise of the Triad games are all shareware versions.
Still.

The Big box commander Keen is obviously the full version.
The Keen in "Good Bye Galaxy" is brand new and sealed, but is indeed the shareware version :(
The other one down the bottom is also shareware.
Rise of the Traid is the Deluxe edition with expansion pack and are both full versions :D
It's Wittchhaven II Blitzwing, I can't get it to run right in windows even by using Dosbox :(
I believe I paid about $50 AUD for all the PC games above, so by the sounds of it I got a pretty good deal :)

Some of those games are terrible (i.e. Witchhaven) and worth nothing. I wouldn't think Rise of the Triad is worth anything unless sealed, and even then, still not much. But on the balance there's some good titles, and the "others" were essentially free. :)

That's fuckin' awesome!
You actually scored on a lot of freakin' pc games, that's like one in a million! Every pc lot i've every won the best game had a resell value of $0.99. :(
Really like this thread, always cool to see someone get a rare and not even know it.

PC games are in really low demand for the most part, but the Lucas Arts point and click games are always worth good money. On the other hand Lucas Arts games like Jedi Knight, X Wing vs. Tie Fighter, and Outlaws are worth $10 (if you're lucky lol). I also think the Keen games bring good money, someone already posted the auction I was going to link. And Leisure Suit Larry probably worth something as well, as everyone as said.
Outside of those there isn't anything that jumps out at me.
I'm actively buying older PC games though and I'd be interested in a few these titles. Are these Austrailian releases and will you be ebaying them?

Rise of the Traid is the Deluxe edition with expansion pack and are both full versions :D
BTW that Rise of the the Triad is the shareware version: The Hunt Begins. The full game is titled the The Dark War. The shareware version isn't available on CD in anything other than the deluxe edition. The Hunt Begins is it's very own episode of the game though, so it's good to have along side the full game. The CD version (aka the deluxe edition) has 2-3 exclusive levels not in the download shareware version. But really it's only worth a few bucks at the most, I just passed up bidding on one CIB on eBay for $10. :P

Alright, after trying to organise all these PC games, I have come to a point where I really don't have anywhere to store them.
So I will probably make a sale thread in the near future :)

i love all the "most of this stuff is worthless" posts, quickly followed up by "i'll buy them off you though"
kinda makes you wonder how "worthless" they really are ;-)

Lucky lucky!
I loved Commander Keen, and that Indiana Jones game was my favorite! lol, and Prince of Persia! (another one of my favorites)
And did anyone else play pickle wars?
Anyways, nice find!

Yeah, those Star Wars Lucasarts games aren't worth more than maybe $5, although they are pretty good. Leisure Suit Larry and Commander Keen are worth a good bit though as pointed out.
Are you selling any of these games? I'm interested in Sonic R and Mario's Time Machine.

I sold a complete copy for $5 at a swap meet, maybe you'd get more on ebay(I bought it for about the same price at a thrift store). I like PC games but to me they're not really valuable, or at least not so much in demand compared to console games.

Also, what one would expect to get from a complete Superhero League of Hoboken. Can only find 2 listing on ebay of 180$ and 250$... Can't be that high...

Some of those games just got released on Steam.
The price is going to come crashing down...

I agree that pc doesnt have the demand that console games do.

This isn't always true. A lot of old PC games go for quite some money, it's just that it's a niche-in-the-niche market and most players and collectors only care about console games.

I played that Road Rash game alot back in the day... Ah, the fun that I had with that game. Still have it somewhere.
