The copy of Super Mario World that I bought yesterday in my foray into vintage gaming has a peeling label. On three of the corners, the label is lifted, but not significantly enough where I'm worried about the sticker falling off.

What does everyone here recommend for reapplying this label? Will simple glue work or should I go with something else? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Laminate works pretty well if you cut it into the shape of the label and put it over it.

I second that.

And if you can't find laminate high quality scotch or 3M clear packing tape isn't bad, just be careful when applying because if you screw it up it'll rip the sticker when you try to remove it.

Whether you're using laminate or tape - be sure to apply it like you'd apply something like an iPod screen protector - use the edge of a credit card in a rubbing motion against the part of the tape making contact to prevent bubbles.

Thanks to both of you! I'll definitely be getting some laminate tomorrow!

You answered my follow up question before I got to ask it...so kudos to you, sir.

I usually use an EXTREMELY thin application of this Elmers clear glue. Too much and you run the risk or wrinking the sticker. Just a bit and then a thin rag or something over the area so I can put some rubber bands over to hold down the label. It dries clear so there's no residue. Usually good as new when I do it.

Part of what I do for a living is re-mount artwork for preservation, and this includes many pieces that are very similar to game labels in material. This is what I use: an acid-free double-sided mounting tape. If you want the best results long-term, this is what I recommend and use on my cartridges and it works great. The best part is it will not discolor or ruin your labels over time. Most glue, other tapes and adhesives will eventually eat through (we are talking years ahead) and mess up the label colors. I can't stress enough acid-free adhesives! I have seen hundreds of items ruined because of this.
What I use is called ATG 924 but an acid-free double-sided photo/art mounting tape will usually hold rather well, depending on how strong the type is.
