As a huge Sonic fan, am very excited. Could this be Sonic's triumphant return to form or will it be the usual cycle we endure of where we become excited for a new game and then end up disappointed upon the games release?

Also, 9/9/09, what a fantastic way to mark the 10th anniversary of the Dreamcast!

Never was a huge Sonic fan, but a re-boot sounds great.

Built from the ground up got me. I don't know exactly what happened between the engine changes from Adventure 1 to Adventure 2, but they screwed everything up with the camera and controls. Ever since then, Sonic's been in the shit tub when it comes to the game play.

If they've redesigned the engine, then I'll do a backflip and dance. Having the best games be exclusively to the hand held systems has been a big drag (Rush had awesome controls and game play with bad level designs, but Rush Adventure fixed that and was pretty awesome).

And finally returning to 2D. I just wrecked my pants...

9 comes out in theaters today too. It's a great day.

As long as Sega don't screwup the gameplay like they did for another game. Sega should really stick to the basic & classic form. No more spin off or add addition new faces.

Teaser site. Does that spell something or am I just being weird?

EDIT: If SEGA's plans are to bring this to PS3 and 360, you know Microsoft is going to try very hard to make this at least a timed exclusive. I'm not sure how many people that works on but I'm willing to wait a month or two to be able to play games on a working D-Pad.

If it's anything like the first two games I'll buy it.

Well this series has needed a serious reboot since the Dreamcast. I just hope they take there time and get it right.

On top of that, the President's giving his speech on health care reform tonight. It's kinds scary knowing all this is coming back to nines (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q53GmMCqmAM). ;)

Threads merged.

All the Sonic DS games have been good, so people can stop saying that no good Sonic since 99 has been released.

Once we actually see somethign i'll start to care a bit more.

They'll screw it up, especially if Sonic Team is behind this. They'll do something stupid like, give Sonic an emotion meter, and his speed depends on how much chili dogs you feed him and make him happy, but don't overfeed him or he'll gain weight and slow down.
Oh, and twenty minute cut scenes between levels that feature Shadow being all emo even though he's not in the game.

Same with me. I am afraid of what could be and excited for what could be.

It's a teaser trailer. Superman's teaser trailer featured nothing but stock footage of clouds, some orchestral music, and the names of the stars presented in the same style as the eventual opening credits.

A+

I'm glad to know I'm not the only goober that remembers that show, and specifically that song. A couple years ago at work, during a slow point in the day. I got up on the stage, and began singing it...people thought I was losing it. Perhaps they were right.

And a 2D Sonic? Hmmm, could be something I suppose. Although, 10 years+ of mediocrity to downright awfulness has me concerned.

sega will pull it off like the remake with shadow silver and yours truly.

I'd be happy if it was similar to the speed levels in Unleashed, that was some of the best Sonic platforming I've played on a console in years. Either way, this is something I'll likely get eventually, I played through Unleashed, so as long as it's better than that it's a step in the right direction.

^Well you do got to admit that is a pretty cool idea for a game....

Anyway, I'm still weary about getting overly excited. No gameplay footage, so I'm guessing this was SEGA's way of just keeping people interested in Sonic. Also if you didn't notice yet, the needlemouse.com website is fanmade and not affiliated with the new game.

I'm guessing SEGA will add annoying characters into the mix. Can we ever have another Sonic game where we just play as Sonic? Oh yeah, Sonic & the Secret Rings which was decent and SEGA managed to screw up the good parts in the sequel.

Have we learned nothing!?

Also, Sonic Rush/Sonic Rush Adventure.

Oh I've learned, that's how I view all Sonic games, I just can't help it. The thing with nearly every Sonic game is each one does a couple of things well, and a handful of things poorly. There have been a ton of games that are mediocre spotted with som truly horrible (Sonic on 260 PS3) and very good, all three DS games have gotten a rating of 74% or better on Metacritic.

Lets hope they can get the same people who did the music for the first few sonic games to do the soundtrack for this one. And I'm not talking about MJ. Was it ever proven he did the music? I thought it was some japanese band called "Dreams come true" or something

about fucking time, I was hoping they'd make a Sonic 4 and put it on the XBLA and PSN but oh well just make a good sonic game for god's sake.

I'm skeptical on this, the new Sonic games were horrible (yes even Adventures) and them waiting all this time to go back to the 2D format doesn't win me over. I've gotten sick of Sonic anyway, it's just Sega's cash cow now, they know that the fans will buy any POS with the name Sonic stamped on it.
