I am really happy about this. Apparently Wipeout HD (with fury) will be pressed to disc and sold in retail shops! So far UK only but I will import this if I have too (yay for region free ;p).

Really weird, when I got up this morning, the thought "I wonder if they'll ever make a disc version of Wipeout HD." popped into my head.

Now I'll be buying it.

Already got the download version and honestly I have only "liked" previous Wipeout games, but this one really kicks ass and looks and runs gorgeous.

I would LOVE if they would do something similar with Mega Man 9.

If it gets a U.S. release I'll definitely buy it. Frankly it should have been a retail game in the first place.

It won't be. A number of PSN games have been released in the UK on disc and none have been released in the US. There is no reason to think this game will be any different. Just import the UK version.

I wouldn't have wanted it to start out as a retail game, it probably would have costed $60 instead of the great deal at $20.

The $20 price diminished the game's stature and is yet another example of Sony shooting their toes off.

I disagree. Given that there aren't that many tracks in the game, and they're all rehashes of the PSP Wipeout tracks, $20 is a fair price point.

Don't get me wrong, I love Wipeout HD, and I've played it more than any other game on the PS3, but in order to justify a full-fledged $50 or $60 retail game, the amount of content would have to have been doubled or even tripled. The $20 price point is what drew me to the game, along with the fact that I'm a fan of the franchise. The value is well worth it.

I am a little disappointed that they're now releasing a retail copy of the game after I already bought it as a download. I can't justify buying the retail copy now, but I'm nonetheless very happy with the game, it really is fantastic, and a great bargain.

Rehashing the PSP tracks wasn't such a great idea either. It should have been a full on, brand new PS3 title. It was just poor treatment of a franchise title...not as key as MGS or Gran Turismo, but still a valuable exclusive IP. Is the Gran Turismo demo still $40? It's like one of those monkeys from Ape Escape got away and took control of Sony's pricing.

Does Fury have rehashed tracks as well?

Yes, it does, again from the PSP games, but if you've never played any of them, it doesn't really matter.
