I was searching Craigs List this morning when I came across an ad for Atari 8-bit stuff. The ad said that this person had collected a lot of 8-bit stuff from their friends over the years but wanted to get rid of it (or rather the wife did). They had a few pictures of some misc 8-bit stuff in boxes but they really didn't show much, nor did the ad mention a price. I decided to ask how much they were expecting for the lot and they said that someone had offered them $40 but backed out, so I decided to offer them $30 and they took it. So I drove up to the house and was expecting to be handed one or two small boxes of misc 8-bit stuff (an 800 and maybe a few power supplies), but when the guy said to come down to his basement and help him haul up the boxes I knew I was in for something big. Here's what I walked away with:

2 Atari 800's with several games (including Telelink II)
4 Atari 810 drives, one with a disk copier mod (Happy possibly)
1 Atari 1050 drive
1 Atari 850
1 Atari 1027 printer (in box)
1 Atari 410 with several tapes
1 Atari 1010 with tons of tapes
1 Atari 835 modem
1 Atari 1200XL in Styrofoam (no box though)
1 Atari 65XE
3 Unidentified boards (look like memory expansions for the 800)
1 Atari 800 circuit board
A huge box of controller and power supplies
The box for the Entertainer kit

Tons and tons of copied games on disk (at least 8 disk holders full), but also a few originals:

Atari Disks (originals)
------------------------
MULE (boxed)
Seven Cities of Gold (boxed)
Starcross (with manual)
Lode Runner
Realm of Impossibility
David's Midnight Magic
Cosmic Balance
Cosmic Balance II
Combat Leader
Battle of Shiloh
Shamus
Shamus Case II
Galaxy (Avalon Hill)
Karateka (with manual)
Zork I
Archon II: Adept
Conan

Atari cartridges
----------------
Assembler Editor
Basic x3
Microsoft Basic II
Pac-Man
Computer Chess (with instructions(
Star Raiders
Soccer (Thorn EMI)
Telelink II

1 Atari 520ST
1 4 switch 2600 with 35+ games (some 7800, nothing too rare)

Not a bad haul for $30. http://www.atariage.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/atariage/icon_smile.gif All of this stuff will be for trade/sale, I just need to sort through it and test everything.

wanted to get rid of it (or rather the wife did).
That's always the way, isn't it? He can't keep his computer and stuff but she keeps three hundred pairs of shoes that she never wears.

Don't suppose you could put up a picture of all this Atari goodness? I'd love to see it. And I'd love to know how many of those floppy disks still work after all these years.

Well in all honesty this stuff looks like it hasn't been used in awhile, I don't think he was giving up his pride and joy. Besides, his basement looked like a Babylon 5 shrine so I think that was his current obsession. :)

Yeah I can take some pictures tonight. The four 810's look pretty impressive all stacked up. :) I've found that old disks tend to work still (I've only had 10 or 11 out of about 100 not work) , but old tapes are generally a lost cause.

The disks are going to take me weeks to go through, there are literally about 8 boxes of them (about 20 to a box) and four disk holders full (about 50 each). Some appear to be dupes (seriously, how many copies of Caverns of Mars does one man need?) but there are tons of games I've never heard of as well.

In case he wanted to play it more than once, of course!

Seriously, though, excellent haul. Hope at least most of that stuff works.

You went to Phosphor Dot Fossil's house?

but old tapes are generally a lost cause.

That's one of my concerns about my old TI Home Computer, I haven't messed with the cassette tapes in a really long time and I'm afraid all of mine are unrecoverable. I'm almost too afraid to hook it all up again to find out.

Wife > Games.

And yeah, it'd be cool if you put up some pics.

Nice haul, once you get some pics up and sort everything, I'd be interested in the software, since I need some to use on my Atari 8-bit haul.

Just send me a PM when you are really to part and we can talk :)

I'd be interested in a disk drive, if you can test them and know one works let me know, I don't even need a power supply just the drive. Let me know.

I have one disk drive left, it's the one with the disk copying mod (archiver?). Let me know if you're interested.

EDIT: Bummer, none of the drives seem to work. I need to realign the heads.

Got 3 of the 4 working. The last one still refuses to work. Unfortunately that's the only one I have left for sale.
