digitalpress
09-17-2009, 12:34 PM
NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...

- There was much Sega Saturn love as a region-free system was in play all day long.
- MSX games got some play, as did Tatsunoku vs. Capcom on the Wii.
- A fighting game tournament featuring obscure Sega Saturn imports took center stage at 6.
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

http://www.digitpress.com/images/store/

In an effort to spark the economy (particularly our store's usual slumping fall sales), we're doing a little "stimulus" promotion. Beginning THIS Saturday, September 19th, you will receive one "ticket" for every $10 spent in the store. On Halloween night, we will draw LIVE at the store. Grand prize is a 60GB backwards-compatible PlayStation 3 system but there are many other prizes including a complete refurbished NES system with a nice stack of games, mystery boxes crammed full of goodies, and more. Start early, hang on to your tickets and prepare for our best giveaway to date.

Tournament: At 6pm we'll host the monthly tournament, tentatively planned to be Street Fighter IV for 360. Be at the store around 5 to sign up. This tournament is subject to change.

Prepare for a day and night of gaming, trading, and kibbitzing. It's NAVA time!

When: September 26th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

For the first time in a while, I'll be going to this. It's been a while since I've been to a NAVA, and I can't wait to see everyone again, as well as some SF4 tournament. Any word on if there's going to be a fee to enter?

digitalpress

The only time there's a fee to NAVA members is when it's agreed upon by all and the proceeds are turned around to the winners. I only accept tournament money from "the public".

Ask me now how exactly how one becomes a NAVA member. I'm still working on that one.

Stimulating! I'm a keen student! :)

We may be bringing my niece there for a little bit, I'm not really sure what's happening yet. If we do go, she is going to be trying White Castle for the first time. :-P

Are there any traders that will be attending this meeting who knows or has any kinds of copies of any Resident Evil 2 beta's with the debug menu or anything about the rare Resident Evil 1.5 prototype? I'm attending this meeting for my very first time and was told that this is also the kind of place where I could meet people who could lead me in the right direction for these sorts of things. Thank you and hope to meet you all at the NAVA!

I am considering attending again... Anyone there interested on CV games? I can bring new copies of Sky Jaguar, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Magical Tree, Road Fighter or Pac-Man Collection.
And doing its first ever public appearance will be the newest version of the Super Expansion Module for the ColecoVision with such exclusive games as Donkey Kong Arcade, Knightmare and Goonies.
Joe, do you know if John Hardie will be attending? There is something I would like to discuss with him about the next CGE. Or it would be you, not sure if you're still involved with the show...

I haven't heard "no" and John is usually present, though he missed a big gap of events earlier in the year. I'll touch base with him tomorrow to find out for sure.

Does anyone have a 4GB or 8GB Memory Stick Pro Duo that they are looking to get rid of?

I will be there.

I am looking to buy a PAL copy of Phantasy Star Online v.2 for Dreamcast. It's an odd request, but I have seen much crazier things change hands at NAVA. I may be willing to pick up a Gamecube version of PSO 1&2 as well, if the price was right.

I'll also have my eye out for DC, 2600, and Atari 8-bit stuff, as usual.

Definitely bring some of your games, especially the Pac-Man Collection. I can't afford all of them, but I should be able to get one. I also look forward to trying out DK Arcade any everything else you have.

I'll be there, sounds like it's gonna be a great time! and SFIV for the tourney makes it even better! I might join in on the fun!

Anyway, as usual I will be trying to sell some of my random stuff, mostly Xbox 360 to GC games I have to many of. I might bring my DVDs that are pretty much new that I don't need, TV Seasons of Heroes, The Simpsons, and Lost (not sure what season Lost is though, I'll double check). and maybe my Mega64 version 1 DVD, the Mega64 DVD is quite rare as this is the FIRST OFFICIAL one before the DVD got revamped with new features about a year later.

At a random request- I'm wondering if ANYONE has a Dreamcast AV Cable, I recently lost mine and I thought that the PS2 cables would work (siince I use my PS2's power cable in my Dreamcast). If anyone has that, it would be greatly appreciated!

Would it be cool if I brought my Japanese PS2 with Pop'n Music again? If I can, rest assured, I will only play Pop'n on my smaller controller which makes next to no noise compared to the bigger one [which I can let other people play on]. I can also bring a good amount of descent Japanese PS1/PS2 games like Gunstar Hero Treasure Box, Fantasy Zone Collection, Metal Slug 3, Vib Ribbon, Keyboardmania, among others. Also, like I said in the previous NAVA thread, I got a PSP camera now so now I can take pictures and movies in color and compare and contrast them with my Game Boy Camera pictures/movies. Word!

I'll be stopping by tomorrow for sure. Last month i bought Endwar for ps3 and it came with a headset. Its funny cause i know that the kid who sold it to me had bought it at Target due to it being on clearance. Anyway, if anyone will be selling a DS or DS Lite, please PM me and let me know.

Does anyone want to buy Scribblenauts? I'm bored with the game after putting 5-6 hours into it. As you might expect, it is complete and in near mint condition. $20 if you mention this post, otherwise I will be asking more tomorrow!

I recall somebody contacting me before August's NAVA, asking me about my INTV2PC adapter. Unfortunately I don't remember who the somebody was.

I've just spent far too much time searching through forum posts, emails, private messages, etc... fruitlessly, and can't spend any more time searching.

Hopefully whoever you are reads this. I'll be at NAVA today, and will bring the INTV2PC adapter with me. I'm still undecided about selling it, but my brain is susceptible to influencing substances (i.e., CASH! :) )

Hope to see you there.

I'm watching the webcam images and I wish sometimes to hear what is going on.

Around 13h, I saw someone playing ColecoVision with special arcade-like joysticks plugged with an extra keypad. Well, i saw two people playing ColecoVision and then the angle change I was unable to see. I've decided to check it out later, and now it looks very animated with a lot of people. I'm too far away to be with you during this event.

NAVA was awesome, it changed my life once again. I can't wait for the next one and I can't wait for you all to see my video I recorded at NAVA (It was recorded very early in the day, many people were not there, it's coming soon I shall post it!).

Oh, and OMF- The Ballad of Jimbo Wang was great, wasn't it? I can't wait for the next episode at the next NAVA!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA6mlQAodns : Game Boy Camera movie featuring Dylan!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLnYRQQBGg4 : This is my PSP movie. I am trying something a little new where I take a mini interview with a forum and/or NAVA member and dub it "Digital Press Profile". I did Dylan this time since he and Michael P are my test beds for everything. However, if people like it enough I would like to eventually interview everyone! I also would like to do Dylan's interview over again because I sound way to amateurish in it [Dylan himself was great though], but this was just a "rough draft" for better things to come hopefully!

I will post additional comments later [for real this time]. I need to get some rest.

Thanks for sharing all this. I had a great time watching the videos and see the pictures. About the pictures, can you tell me what is in the first picture?

The first picture is Pedro playing on Jeff's laptop [he had an emulator of a classic console that I could'nt identify]. Joe and I believe Katie can be seen in the very background of that picture too. There is only so much detail you can pick out from a Game Boy Camera picture. That's half of fun of looking at them.

I had a great time as per usual. Everything from Tonythetiger's laughs that were directed at me for buying train simulator games [Densha De Go 1 and 2 to be exact] from an attendee, the great conversations I had with Donald about everything from Seaman to lousy box art, playing on Frankie's adorable mini arcade cabinets, befriending Spencer through the dialect of Pop'n Music, and buying too much stuff from the store yet again will all remain fond memories for me.

As an interesting note, I bought a Turbo Express with a T.V tuner and I made assumptions with everyone that the tuner would not work since the big move to all digital signals. However, I did manage to pick up two channels that I never seen before. One of them seemed like a Home Shopping-ish channel that could of possibly been European in origin because I think the items were being sold in pounds and not dollars [!!?].

Thanks again Joe for hosting such a wonderful event. See you all next month!

...the great conversations I had with Donald about everything from Seaman to lousy box art...

I, too, enjoyed talking about Seaman with you at NAVA. What guy wouldn't enjoy talking about his first experience with Seaman, and the reaction of his friends when they were first exposed to his Seaman. And it's a shame that the American market was never exposed to the second serving of Seaman; something of which the Japanese have a voracious apetite for. Perhaps discussions like these will encourage SEGA to bring more Seaman to a new, possibly younger audience, in the future. The more gamers exposed to Seaman early on, the more gamers will be wanting Seaman when they are older.

I should have stuck with the original plan. I had TWO ColecoVision "Ghostblaster" cartridges and was going to set up TWO ColecoVisions so everyone could enjoy it. Unfortunately I only have ONE ColecoVision that is modded to play on a HD TV. Chalk it up to lack of technology at the store.

Apologies also for the somewhat short fireworks display.

All of this will be resolved when the inevitable "Ghostblasters II" comes out.

Joe, if you need a 3rd cartridge, let me know before I'm running out of stock to make them.

I did see the pictures, it's great to see how many people was at the Nava, and how many of them did see my game. I did maybe meet some of you long time ago during a Phillyclassic, well it's where I did meet Joe S and Sean K for the first and only time... I was so shy and my english was not good at all, I was unable to speak. I did takes pictures that are still in a DigitalPress web page somewhere... anyway.

As for a "Ghostblaster II" game, I guess it's a metaphore, but I'm taking the opportunity to say that if really people ask for a sequal, I'll make one. I think I've got a Ghostblaster fever, because I like really this game.

Before I forgot, I may have read somewhere that I'll start eventually a contest about GhostBlaster, and I did suggested you to check my Youtube channel "newcoleco". It's time now.
