Anyone have any ideas on what the most realistic fishing game is?Console/PC doesn't matter.I'd really like to find a game that doesn't make you use a lure the whole game with that underwater view. Are there any that you can just bait a hook and use it with a bobber and wait for fish to bite? Thanks.

Breath of Fire 3 and 4 have the two best fishing mini games ever. Breath of Fire 4 even has compatibility with the fishing controller released for the PSX.

The Blue Marlin - but that's an NES title.

I was going to jokingly recommend Breath of Fire 3, but it seems I was beaten to the punch lol. Not exactly "realistic" to be sure, but kupo is right that the fishing mini-game is pretty dang fun.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, but I always enjoyed the fishing minigame in Zelda OOT.

Fable as a fishing minigame like you want, no lure.

I've played almost every fishing game. I too dislike the underwater view of the lure trend in these games. The best top view fishing game in my opinion is Bassin's Black Bass w/ Hank Parker for the SNES.

Pro Fishing Challenge for the Xbox was pretty nice. No underwater view, always above but it had a fish locater that would ping to let you know if fish were in the area. What made it unique was you could play it online in eight player rooms. Everyone would fish on the same lake and could compete with each other for fishing area space and for catching the biggest fish.

get bass for the dreamcast, whenever you hook a fish, a metal band in a nearby boat screams FISH! and starts blaring away
Dreamcast Sega Marine Fishing using the fishing controller FTW.
It's the one game that makes me regret selling my DC collection. :(

I actually bought a SNES in it's later years for Bassin's Black Bass. I think I paid more for the game than I did for the actual console. That game was still on the shelf in the mid-late 90s at Toy R Us.
But do not mistaken Bassin's Black Bass for Super Black Bass. Two completely different games.

The Strike on Xbox 360 and Wii which comes out soon I believe looks pretty darn realistic. The 360 version even has an optional fishing controller.

Had to edit cause I noticed you didn't want a Sega with underwater view type fishing. I originally posted a pic of the sega marine fishing arcade unit.
I've actually played a virtual reality arcade cab that had the exact tension of deep sea fishing. You literally would almost get pulled over the unit the tension was so accurate. Haven't seen it in a while and it was only at a local bar "I live on the Gulf Coast" I played it, but yeah, it's hard as hell to catch a fish on it, but awesome.

EDIT: Image was changed.
Anyway, how are the Wii fishing games, do they feel realistic at all? There are a lot of them on the system, maybe at least one is good.
