Since GAC is taking the weekend off, I thought I'd mention this to everyone. Right now on Amazon you can get the first Chapter of the new Monkey Island games for free. Windows only and I'm not sure how many times this can be used. I'd assume you can download it on multiple computers though as I don't think Amazon put in any DRM. I may be wrong though.

Even if you hate DLC, you can't argue with something that's free. Plus it's not like you can't get the hard copy release later with the rest of the chapters. Let this just tide you over and treat it like the old shareware.

Very smart way for Amazon to enter the digital distribution ring. Offer free game, get people to put credit card on file to get game and bingo, instant association.

Only problem I see is that their system only allows for one download at a time. Otherwise, free game, yay!

Thanks for pointing this out. Helluva weekend for downloadable pc games, this digital distribution stuff is really getting heated.

actually they're not offering it..... the devs are, you can get it at their website as well. It's for talk like a pirate day, they probably just extended the program amazon as well.

Wish I had known it was a developer thing earlier. If i had known I would have put that in my first post instead of the Amazon link. Still, a pretty great deal.

Edit: In defense of Amazon they do offer some great deals on the hard copy side and I found out it is relatively DRM free. You can download it to as many computers as you want, but only one computer at a time can use the software. So not as nice as Steam, but okay. I can understand the anger at entering a credit card for a free download though. My family buys countless things through Amazon so yeah.
