Hello,
Does anybody know approximately how many Hello Kitty Xboxes are out there?
Most of the info I've seen online is that 500 units were released in Singapore, but it seems that there are very few of these actually floating around?

Do you guys see these around every once in a while?
Thanks!

I am shocked Ace hasn't responded here. The Kotaku article is referencing his Hello Kitty Xbox. He told me once how many at MGC, but I cannot remember.

Why wouldn't it seem like there's very few floating around? I mean, only 550 made, only released in Singapore, you figure most people probably still own the ones they got. Why would you expect to see many of them around, especially outside of Singapore?
Other very LE systems like a Maziora DC (similar numbers in existence) are almost never seen either - why would this one be different?

Smork, I said "but it seems that there are very few of these actually floating around?" So I agree with you, not the other way around. I'll try to be clearer next time.
The reason I asked in the first place is that it appears that very few of these xboxes made it into collectors hands, at least from my limited perspective. So I wanted to see if other people on the forum have seen them around.
Basically there is a big difference to me if ten people on this forum reply saying that they have one, or had one, as opposed to no one ever seeing one in person.
That and I have no clue what the availability on other LE systems are, I simply have never looked into it, nor would I really know how, other than asking on this forum...

I had to run to Malaysia for work so I decided to beat the bushes for one of these. I've mentioned in other threads that I recalled seeing them in stores a few years ago in Singapore, so I figured I could find one with some effort. Turns out I was correct!

I found one that was essentially new in box - the box had been opened but the system had never been used. It even had the original purchase receipt from Harvey Norman in Singapore from June 2006.

It's quite a garish system but looks a bit better in person than it does in pictures.

So now there's one more running around in 'known collector' hands!

Quite cheap, actually!

I didn't buy it to resell. I am a 'known collector' too - I'm not planning on listing it or auctioning it off, though i'd probably listen if someone knocked my socks off with a deal or something.

I've heard it was 500~600 manufactured, but yeah, the question is, how many of them were sold? What happened to the ones that didn't sell. What I keep hearing is that this was a promotional item for some big screen tv or something, that after you bought the tv (which was not cheap at all), you had the option to buy the system. So how many people would have a) purchased that tv in that specific time frame, and b) would have also wanted that console? There's the reason you see so few of them right there. So the question: how many were actually sold, and where did the rest go? Gotta wonder if someone's going to open a storage unit one day and find a box of these, like what happened w/ Cheetahmen II or something. Cuz I can't believe a whole bunch of these were actually sold, given the circumstances.
