I am going through my black box cartridges to see if any of them have the famicom converters in them, and I noticed that there is another chip in my Gumshoe cartridge. I don't believe this would be for the zapper, since Duck Hunt does not have the same. The resistor is also on the other side of the cartridge...what is this for? just wondering...

also, were the black box titles the only games to use the converter? What is the probability of finding a cartridge with a famicom converter in it?

If it helps, the extra chip is made by Sharp.

gumshoe would never have the converter, it was never released on the famicom.

How do you know it's an "extra" chip? How many chips are on the PCB?

It's not necessarily "extra" to the cart, but on the other black carts i've opened, they only have two chips, from what i have read as being the CHR and PRG chips, as well as the 10NES lockout chip.
