See the second page for your match this week and let's get it on. PM me with any questions.
Nirvana had a great idea for a Digital Press online fighting game tournament, and in his absence, I decided that I'm going to go ahead and run a little something for Street Fighter IV. I've been running some local tournaments (see www.GRAPSF.com), and I've found that I really enjoy it... Enough to commit to running a month long online format tournament on both consoles for the fine, fine folks at Digital Press.
Here's how it works: there will be two tournaments running at the same time, for 360 and PS3 respectively. The format will be American standard: double elimination, best two out of three matches, winner keeps his character and loser may counter pick. Participants with access to both consoles may register for both tournaments. Anyone interested in participating can register by posting in this thread with their gamertag, the system(s) on which they want to play, and just for fun, their main character. Registration will end at midnight on October ninth* (a Friday).
I will be posting the brackets in this thread the following day, along with every match that needs to be played to advance the brackets. The participants will have one week in which to play their games: I know that everyone has a different schedule, but a week should be plenty of time to communicate with your opponent and get things done. The winner and loser of each match will PM me with the results by Friday, either on DP or on XBL/PSN (gamertag for both is Geofffvdl). I will then post the updated brackets and the process will repeat until we have us a winner.
Because I like things to run smoothly, players who can't find a time to play their matches during their allotted week will be disqualified, as will players who forget to PM me with their results. Only sign up if you're reasonably sure that you can make the weekly commitment.
To make sure that this doesn't continue long past the new year, we'll be running the losers bracket concurrently with the winners bracket after the second round. The overall top placer on each console will get a prize, which I assure you is both spectacular and topical. \\^_^/
I'll be playing on both systems myself. If anyone else is interested, please sign up below, and lets get this party started!
