Hey guys. Been many many years since I've posted in here, but I've been getting back into playing games (been off because of university) and I want to get a PS3. Thing is, I live in South Korea now (for those that remember me, I used to live in Illinois) and US games can get ridiculously expensive. Asian versions are cheaper, and I see from the Play-Asia site that many Asian games I want come in Chinese as well as English. Now, I've heard this only applies to the manuals coming out in both languages, but I haven't heard anything for sure. Does anyone know if Asian versions of PS3 games do in fact come out with English text in game as well? Thanks for any help.

Only one I know of is Siren: New Translation and maybe even Demon Soul's, I haven't heard of any others tho.

both of those games are awsome ps3 exclusives. I'll be picking up a copy of each soon.

I believe Hakuna Matata and Aquanaut's Holiday are both in English, as they are being sold in Asia. As well as Demon's Souls which was already mentioned.

Thanks for the replies. So other Asian games are not in English, correct? I'm talking about the in-game text, I can care less about dialogue.

It depends on who develops the games. I can vouch that Asian Capcom games will play in English. They play in the language that you have your PS3 set to display.

Other games, for example Initial-D or GT5 only play in Japanese.. or the language they were localized for.

If you find a game you like, just do some research on it before you buy.

I want LittleBigPlanet the most, but I can't really find much on if the Asian version supports English text.

Or you could get people from DP to send em to ya..... :)

But yeah, a fair number of Asian editions are in English. I have Demon's Souls and Siren NT myself.

It's more for Japanese games, but it WILL give you an idea if the Asian versions are in English or not. If the Japanese games are in English, I'd say that almost definitely the Asian versions will also be. In fact, MOST of the Asian versions are in English. I can't confirm that they all are, but every single Asian version I've seen definitely is other than some of the Japan-only games that have been released in the Asian market (Initial-D, Wangan Midnight, etc.). For example, both the Asian versions of Oblivion and Fallout 3 are in English.

In my experience the vast majority of Asian releases are in English and only a few are Chinese-only. This goes for the PS3 and 360. About half of my 360 games (40+ games total) are Asian releases and all of them except Bullet Witch were bi/trilingual.

Hell, even alot of the Japanese PS3 games are bilingual.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

Also, does anyone know if all PS3 models have universal power supplies? I know the US and Japan ones do, but I want to buy a PS3 in Korea and if I go back to the USA, I want to bring it with me. They use a different voltage over in Korea, so I need to know if the Korean models also have universal power supplies.

I thought the Asia versions were always in English....the Korean and Japanese versions are the ones that are in a foreign language. Not sure though. I have always purchased the Asian version as like you said, they are 20 buxs cheaper for exactly the same game.

From what I remember there is a summary on the game page that lists what language the game is in though. EDIT: just had a look and it is listed on the page under 'language'.

Take a look at the sig - it's a spambot. I guess it works by copy/pasting text from other posts to try and look like it's actually relevant to the subject.
