Welcome back everybody! This week, we have a 1994 Namco release called The Outfoxies.

How do I describe this game? It's a fast-paced one on one fighting game mixed with platform run-n-gun. An EXTREMELY unique game with destructible and interactive environments. Plus, you can play as a monkey in a tuxedo and top hat. How can you not love this game?

Club Rules

01. You do not need to sign up for the club. If you want to participate, simply download the game of the week and post about it!

02. At the end of the week, I will randomly select a game from a list of nominations.

03. The current MAME Club Pick of the Week can be found every Monday stickied at the top of the Arcade Alley.

Very popular game on Shmups - I can name least two people I highly respect who love this game, and I know others do. A very unusual (but awesome) type of game; Elevator Action off the rails (feels and even looks more like Taito than Namco to me)! In Versus Tournament Format! With large maps full of dangerous things that crumble, fall, crush, or go boom on you.

There's nothing really that I can complain about in this one, though I hate the AI players (especially the creepy twins, and metal arm man). Feels cheap at times, though it shouldn't (certainly it doesn't feel as cheap to me as most versus fighters do, although AI characters usually melee like crazy when in range, which I can't seem to pull off). The factory stage with elevators is usually where my luck runs out (I think that's the third stage).

What MAME version is this for? Mine won't run it.

I'm running .129u2, and the ROM is the most recent, from .134 I believe.

Really great game here, one of my favorites. The pcb is rare/expensive ($300+ a lot of the time) so I'll enjoy it on ROM this week.

Great (and at the time unique) premise for gameplay which worked out really well. Lots of weapons, destructible environments, and wacky characters. Kind of like.. Smash Brothers for consenting adults.

I picked a good week to actually get back into this. This game is unique as hell indeed. Very cool stuff. My PC runs it pretty poorly, but I still managed to have a good time with it. Those kids kicked my ass though.

This really should make it to a compilation sometime.

I really enjoyed the little touches. Stuff like the piranha tank. And then as how that first level began flooding, the sharks got loose. That was unexpected, and a lot of fun.

I'm terrible at SHMUPS, but this one seems really good. Lots of stuff going on and lots of little details, that's for sure. I'll try again tonight and see how far I can get.
