Hello,
I just received the Retro Duo System (Silver and Black edition) that I recently ordered from VideoGameCentral.com.
While I am very happy with the improved video vs the FC Dual I purchased from SuperUFO.com about two years ago, I am experiencing a problem with audio static on the Super NES side. The NES side seems to not suffer from this audio static.
The problem is as described: If I try and play a game on the SNES while the white RCA connector (for the left channel) is plugged in, it causes the audio to contain static noise in both channels... when the white connector is unplugged, the audio returns to normal (no static, albeit sound comes out of the right channel only).
I posted here to see if anyone else had a similar issues with the Retro Duo. I will be contacting VideoGameCentral.com shortly in order to try and replace it.
Thanks

Yeahhh .... Retro Duos are great when they work, but there have been plenty of out-of-box hardware defects reported.
You may want to try your unit on several different television setups to see if the issue follows. If it does, see if you can get a replacement.

Is there static if you only put the white one in the left output?
And if you only put the red one in the left output?

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I didn't expect the RetroDuo to be immune to some
QA issues similarly to other NAOC/clone cosoles.
I just finished trying it on another TV, and the problem follows the system.
Static is experienced whenever the white (left channel) connector is plugged in,
regardless if it is the only audio connector plugged in or not.
If you connect only the white connector in while it is in the red plug (right channel), the static audio problem is not experienced.
On the other hand, if you connect only the red connector in while it is in white plug (left channel) the static audio problem is experienced.
This confirms that the audio cables are not the problem, and that the problem is in fact a defect of my particular unit.
Hence, I have contacted VideoGameCentral.com to ask for a replacement.
Hopefully they get back to me and are good about returns.

I've had one that would only play snes and super famicom games and not any nes or famicom games! Pretty cheap little device kinda cool but in the end the real hardware is best

@otaku (or anyone else that had a hardware problem with one):
Where did you purchase it from and how did you go about returning it?
VideoGameCentral.com has yet to reply to my original e-mail stating the
problem, and I sent it about 48 hours ago. I am probably going to try calling
them today.

Well I called them earlier today.
The guy I got on the phone claimed
that the customer service people were
not in yet and that one of them would call
as soon as they were in. That never happened.
I suppose I will have to try calling them again tommorrow.
I just hope they don't try and give me the ring around.

Of course within the past hour my system has developed a problem where it only plays NES games with garbled graphics... ugh :/

UPDATE: They finally got back to me via e-mail and sent me an RA number. They claimed that they would test the replacement unit before they ship it to me.
I will update this thread when the replacement arrives and I have tested it.
UPDATE: The finally responded to my e-mail requesting info and to see if they got it.
They claimed that they shipped it yesterday, so we will see when it gets here.
Are there any alternative stores which are reliable (and / or recommended) that sell the Retro Duo (v2.0, the silver and black one) online?
I'd like to stay away from this company in the future.
While not necessarily bad, the speed of the return process is kind of iffy.
UPDATE: I received the replacement Retro Duo about two weeks ago. Everything is working find and there is no audio static in either channel on either the NES or the SNES side.
