I've had one R.O.B for a while. Never knowing there are 2 different versions. The one I had first has the black visor and the Gyromite hands. Last week I found the other one. With the eyes(No hands :(). So I was looking at them noticed the diferences and googled it. This is where the confusion comes in. On wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.O.B. they have pictures of both and a nice side by side but the hands are reversed from how I found mine. Is there picture wrong? Or the person who owned mine might have had both. Or they released both versions of both. Is one rarer/more expensive than the other? Also does anyone know why they released 2 versions? It was only out a little while. Whats the real differnce? Is one better? Any help would be great.

It's all the same, pull the visor off and you'll see the "eyes." Should read that west of that wiki entry:

"Optional tinted filter could be attached over the eyes to compensate for use with overly bright televisions."

There are two type of hand attachments, the pads for StackUp and the claws for Gyromite. Each can be put on either hand, again, it's all the same.

Thanx, but I did read the whole thing the caption under the picture of both says variats. Maybe it should say R.O.B with both set ups or what R.O.B. looks like in both forms side by side. But definitly not variats.

Also about this pull off thing. How do you do it. I don't want to brake mine. I did try this last week when I found the new one and right now. But they won't come off. They are on there pretty good.

I didn't know about this until just recently when visiting the DP store. I have the original ROB without the visor. I kinda like that version better but that could be because it's the one I grew up with.

I have a R.O.B. that uses AA batteries and another one that uses C. Which one is the earlier one?

R.O.B. should use AA's and the Gyro Spinner should use a C.

The visor is fastened with an adhesive and came with all ROBs.

Adhesive usually means your not suposed to take it off. Is this the case with these? Mines on there so good, I'm just gonna leave it right where it is. I guess it's all the the wording. Where you suposed to take them off or is it more oow look I can rip this off and oow look R.O.B. looks diferent now kinda thing. Cuase thats what it's sounding like. I honestly do not know. If so isn't that braking it?

It was an option because it didn't work correctly on some TVs without the robot "sunglasses." I forget the exact circumstances when this would occur, but maybe someone remembers? I put mine on my ROB and never saw any adverse effects, so I'm not sure if with them on they stop working on *other* TVs. Never heard this discussed though, so I'd be glad to know.

For the lens piece (I ahve one still in its package) - It had to do with the brightness of the TV and if ROB functioned properly or not.

Adhesive means that it's a optional accessory that you can stick on. Chances are it's on there pretty good since it's likely that ROB hasn't been used for a long time.
