Can I use a standard wireless 360 controller on my pc and if so how? Or must I have a "for windows" controller?

Yeah, there shouldn't be a problem. I've been doing this for a couple years now.

You should be able to use any Xbox 360 controller just fine on your PC, and if it's XP or newer the buttons will all be visible to applications that use standard Windows mappings, no problem. If drivers are needed Windows will install them, probably invisibly.

The wireless part should be handled internally by the controller, appearing to Windows or a 360 the exact same way a wired one would with no extra complications or functions.

The 360 for Windows units are just taking advantage of user ignorance; don't spend more for one than a regular 360 pad.

Wireless 360 stuff on PC requires a usb wireless dongle thing. Wired works straight up.

Sadly, Big Button controllers do not seem to be supported, and some other ones aren't perfect (ie the spinner on the arcade gamestick sucks in windows).

would it be cheaper to get the dongle or another controller this time wired?

Which is properly considered part of the stick, is it not?

The spinner not working is good to know, but I generally find anything called an "arcade stick" with unusual parts is bound to be full of fail from a control standpoint. I'm doing pretty well using the mouse to simulate unusual controls.

the spinner part registers as hatswitch on the PC, but it constantly like..flickers. if you watch it in the control panel thing, the buttons are just firing random input all the damn time. I have no idea why it does this. It works fine on the 360.

(i hoped it would make a good controller for pachinko sexy reaction)
