I've played an awful lot of good video games on Sony systems in the last few years. What they do with their money doesn't bother me. If you all want to sit around on a message board and yap about corporations making or losing money (something most of you know absolutely zero about), help yourselves. I have gaming to do.
Doesn't sound like you have much knowledge in the business field your self there my friend. Sony in my opinion is so focused on bringing us "the next best thing" that they try WAY to hard to be the first and having the new next gen console when in reality the technology isn't there yet. We're getting there but we arent there yet. My advice to Sony is slow the hell down take a deep breath and fix the problems that you have here and don't worry about jumping that far ahead when you don't have the means or the tech to do so.
It should concern you a bit though shouldn't it? I mean if they are going to continue to make bad marketing choices and throw their money into projects that they know aren't doing well just so they can try and come out on top because they came out with the next big thing that THEY think will work but clearly hasn't, then as a fan of Sony, wouldn't...you wanna know what their up to....and put in you're 2 cents every now and then? I mean, weather or not you realize this, company's have people that go and search boards just like this one and read threads like this one. Do they judge what to do from reading stuff like this? Clearly not all the time but some of the time I think an over all consensus of what their fans think has some SOME influence on what they are going to do. So...yeah take a little concern in what they do because if they end up bankrupting themselves then you wont have those games to go and play instead of taking and interest in what Sony is doing. Not trying to come off as an ass just my opinion you do whatever you feel like doing.
That being said I do think that the eventual future of gaming is going to be all downloads and Sony seems to really be testing the market with the go. I thought that when I saw it at E3 last year. A Sony rep walked up to me and asked me what I thought and I said "honestly it wont work" He asked why I thought that and I said "because gamers want physical copies of games not download games." He went on about how eventually that is where gaming is gonna go and I agreed with him but I don't think the current generation is ready for that yet. I went on to point out that I can be a very forgetful persona and I have in the past left my Brief case or travel bag in places where it could get stolen and if that happend and I had a Go in there with my other stuff then all the money I put into it is gone and Gamers in general wont like that. Who likes to lose money? I mean come on, I also said that I don't think the over all majority of gamers want to pay for a game for the psp they already had. Then he went on about vouchers and such which ok yeah that's an ok idea but still it just to me seems like to much of a hassle.
Again from what I know, if some one steels your go then you're basically boned every game you have is gone and I am not 100% sure on how the go works but unless they offer some kinda rebate then you have nothing you lost you system and the money that went into the games. It's gotten to the point that Sony just....wont sit back and learn from their mistakes, I mean who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to release 4 different types of ps3 systems and make it a man hunt to find the only good one of the bunch the 60' gig because its 100% backwards compatible which is what 90% of gamers want and then discontinue it? I mean really. I know that they want the new stuff to flourish but you have to hold on to what works for a little while and give it time for your new baby to grow.
I'll agree their marketing for the Go was crap but its not like people didn't hear about it. Their are TV spots for it so.....relaunching the system in hopes of "catching on" is just a bad idea and a waist of money. It's just like adult swim keeping Tom goes to the Mayor on the air when fan's of adult swim sent in protest letters to get it taken off the air because, the show sucked and adult swim's response to the fan's was "yeah that's what you said about aqua teen at first to but now you love it so we're keeping it on, you'll learn to love it and here we are the show is no longer on the air. Sony maybe you should bring 100% backwards comparability back to the current run of PS3 systems then not only will you be making gamers happy, you will also be making money. And I know you can go on psn and download older games but just as I am with the wii, If I have a physical copy then I'm not gonna buy it again I don't care how cheap it is. Especially if it can technically be played on the system I am currently using. One thing I will say for the Wii they got the backwards comparability right. Love my GC games.
In closing, the Go getting a relaunch is a crap-tastic Idea and way to go Sony for paying little to no attention to the fan boys that so desperately seek your approval. :fist:
Again this is all my OPINION.
