Hey! Listen!

It's that time again! We (us mods/admins) LOVE the carved Pumpkins. It just gets us in the mood for all the seasonal festivities the rest of the year. So what we'd like to see from YOU is your best works. The rules are simple and there will be voting by the people of DP to decide the winner, and sed winner will recieve a $25 buck Gift Certificate to GameStop.

I know time is short, but good carvers havn't cracked out their pumpkins yet, because they'd already be going bad.

**THE RULES**

* Everyone is elligible (One Entry per name) * Last year we had some one time joiners that were here 'for the prize'. Those were DQ'd because its not fair, that is again in effect with this contest. To be eligible, you need to have been a member of the forums now. If your join date is after 10/21 its no good this year. Sorry to be that way, but we're a community and we don't appreciate those that are here for the contest goodz and not willing to add to out witty and intelligent banter on all things gaming.

* We're a Video Game based forum, lets make these Video Game Themed.

* This Pumpkin must be carved by your hand.

* For it to be entered into the contest, a pic will be needed, this pic will also need your username included in the picture on a card so we know its not being lifted from somewhere.

* Once carved and your picture (with forum handle) has been taken it needs to be uploaded somewhere (personal webspace, photobucket, flikr ect) and then posted here in THIS THREAD. If you can't figure that out, I will help you, PM me for help.

* Pumpkins must be posted in here by MIDNIGHT on 10/30. Once its Halloween (12:01 AM 10/31) submittals are over. Anything posted afterwords will not be accepted. All times are based on MY time zone, Pacific Standard Time.

* Voting will begin Monday (11/2) and go until Thursday (11/5) evening due to me being out of town for a wedding, so I won't have the time to start the voting until I get home monday. The voting will happen in a separate thread and further voting details will be in the voting thread.

Pumpkin On!

I am definitely entering this... Will a multi-pumpkin display be allowed?

Sure, but each poster will only get one entry. If it takes 4 pumpkins to tell a story, so be it!

So if I'm the only entry, do I still get a prize?

If you are the only entry.... you would indeed get the prize... Let's hope that doesn't happen.

See my edited first post for the 'Rulez'

Well my 5 year old son over-ruled me and chose "The Maw" from xbox-live. It is his favorite game at the moment. For those of you who haven't played it, the main character looks a lot like "BOB" from the movie Monsters vs. Aliens. It's a fun game and he has beat it twice. As you can tell, the design is all original...sketched(mostly) by my son.

Here is my entry…

It is a pumpkin I grew in my garden that is only about 5 inches in diameter…

Kirby’s Adventure has always been a favorite of mine.

Edit: I know it looks like complete crap. It was still fun, though.

Don't say that! It looks pretty darn good (especially lit up). And its MILES better than everyone else whose not even carved one yet. Hold that head up high!

Heck, in my work safe mode (white background ate that white text), I didn't even see the fact that you grew your own pumpkin! Thats even a nicer touch!

Not to mention, if I'm reading his post right it's only "5 inches in diameter" O_O thats a small pumpkin! How did you get all of that on there? (For reference: a softball has a 3 to 4 inch diameter)

Hmmm, nice entries so far. I'm nearly done mine, I just need to add a few finishing details. I'll probably post mine on Friday, I'm busy tomorrow.

HurricaneAndrew, how did you get that color? I would assume a glowstick, as I've done that in the past, though I'm not sure that would fit in a pumpkin so small!

Keep them coming!

My camera sucks in the dark!

I just noticed I forgot the Band-Ade. LOL Oh well, it's before he gets the crud kicked out of him.

Nah, no glowstick. Just a candle.

I assume that everyone else must be using a different variety of pumpkin or something. I read in last year's thread that Exacto knives are the tool of choice, but an Exacto won't go through the thick rind of mine. That's why it looks sloppy.

Alright, time to post mine. Carved with butcher's knife, steak knife, and coping saw blade, and yes, all the parts are from a single pumpkin.

It's.... JIGGLYPUFF!

Yes, I carved it:

Even cute in the dark!

The camera doesn't pick it up to well, but her little puff of hair glows nicely in the dark.

edit: Oh, and understatement, how/why did you ruin a shirt!?

This year, I went with a horror theme...

OOOOooooOOOOO SCAAAARRRYY!!!

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b48/SamuraiSmurfette/005-2.jpg

I carved it with a child's safety carver from the dollar store (that I've had *since* I was a child...)
I got the red light by taking the electric bits out of one of those plastic perma-pumpkin, and replacing the bulb with a christmas light.
This is the only time I've ever been thankful that retailers put out christmas supplies before halloween!

@SamuraiSmurfette: after seeing HurricaneAndrew's "Oh Crap!" .sig, I thought a RRoD pumpkin might be nice; thanks for bringing it to life!
