I found a The Rocketeer proto cart:

At least I think it's a proto cart. I tried this thing on my trusty NES toaster and couldn't get it to boot. I got two garbled screens, and that was it. Nothing even remotely recognizable. I'm not sure if my NES didn't like it or if the cart's dead... So I want to get it dumped.

I mean, it's the FUCKING ROCKETEER, I doubt this is worth a lot of money anyway. I'd like to get this dumped, release the rom, and sell or trade the cart to someone afterwards. Proto or not, it's still a collectible item, you know?

So can anyone help? I'm located in Southern California. Any US-based dumpers around?

Are the eproms exposed? Kinda looks like they are which would be a reason for it not to boot up.

They look like they've got bit ol' stickers to me.

Socal, as in Mexico. :p

I actually live in Mexicali, which is right next to the border with the US, about 120 miles southeast of San Diego.

The EEPROMs are not exposed. However, I am concerned about the data itself. Who knows how long this has been tossed around, or if the data in there is still usable. :| My NES is finicky as hell, so maybe it's just my system being a bitch.

I didn't pay hundreds of dollars for this so I really don't have much to lose. Anyway, I'm making arrangements with MrMark0673 from NintendoAge. He'll dump it for me, and after that's done, I'll just sell the cart to anyone who wants it. Even if the data is lost, I figure it would be a neat collectible for someone.

Well, I just heard back from MrMark... and there was no data on the cart. Boo hoo.

I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet.

Well, you could program new EPROMs and set them into the cart if that's what you mean. The chips are socketed, so you wouldn't be changing the original proto board at all.

I got a few glimmers of hope when i was trying to get it to work, but the best I ever got were some heavily garbled graphics and a few chirps of audio.

Still a very nice board for a collector or for someone looking to populate it with proto chips. If it were an MMC3 test board, I would have made an offer myself, but I don't think I currently need an MMC1 board.

???
So I take it that there is some data, but it's just not coming out cleanly.

I think most of the contents of the cart were lost some time ago due to bitrot and very improper storage. See kids, this is why you dump your proto carts.

When you're talking about a finished game, if you can't get it to boot at all, the remaining corrupted data is not worth the time trying to interpret. It would be unlikely to find unused sprites or the like from something this horribly corrupted.

I was pretty surprised to be honest, the board looks to be in very good shape, although it has a bit of "flea market dust" on it. Sniper, if you want me to see if I have a compatible set of ROM chips to test the board out before sending it back, I could do that too.

Knock yourself out. Feel free to do that. :)

Edit: Too bad this isn't a Mapper 4 / MMC3 board, otherwise I would've asked you to make a repro cart for me. :p
