Just saw this, and hopefully it will start applying to stores in the near future. I think that this could be a good move.
(*Wasn't sure if this was a brand new thing, or if there was a post(didn't see one))
Discuss.

Agree ..
but a nice move indeed, i have purchased many GS games online and too many didn't have manual :beaten: ... or cover art ...

Now we need some Buy2Get1 sales so I can work on my PS2/360/Gamecube collections.
Seems to fail with Gameboy/Advance category of games.

This is something that my local PnT has started as well. They transition out most of their non-CIB games with Buy1Get1 deals and other specials. It's nice to see that GameStop has this guarantee, though it's not much of an impact these days (except for handheld games).

Love?
It's true. I packed a game with "let's just be friends," and they wouldn't take it.

Even if the game comes with art and manual, there's no guarantee they'll be, you know, in good shape. :|

Now they need to roll out a customer appreciation program and with that, this and edge card they should be able to do well against the onslaught of digital distribution.

ebgames.com used to do this years and years ago until gamestop came along and screwed it all up. Good to see it coming back.

Love?
Hint: When dry, this love also acts as a re-sealant.

Looks pretty nice, but I'm still a bit weary about how this is implemented. Clicking on the nice little link takes you to the same page you get to when you click preorder regularly. It also doesn't help when all the listings say that cover and manual may not be included. Maybe I have to follow steps to get to it, but then again I never really liked ordering online from Gamestop. Sort of ruins the fun of going into a store and finding a game I've been wanting there.

"Packed with love" is a little more "used" than I really want I think.
Nice that they are doing this though.

I was pretty bummed to see the name of that link and then not link to an announcement that Pogs were back and EB was going to sell them.

I noticed the word too, but didn't think it would have anything to do with it since they're not tied into gaming.
I actually used to collect those when I was younger.

"Does not apply to consoles, accessories, movies or UMD."
Why doesn't it apply to UMD? Or does it mean UMD movies?

I find it very interersting. It's definetly a good marketing move. So many times I have seen games in their stores, and it has a totally incomplete game, for full price. I asked myself each time, why would I buy just copy of the game, when I know I deserve everything the game had orginally to offer. I'm wondering when they are going to finally garantee that they won't advertise a game as new on the price sticker, only to discover, it is in new condition, which should be better written as like-new. New means to me, as it does to every other store that sells any kind of product. Once you've opened it, broken the seal, removed tags, etc, it is no longer considered new by that store. Garantee me that Game Flop! (I've had repeated bad experiences with them in the past.)

I think even the old gamestop.com used to do it, just not for everything.

So that's what the hole in the disk is for! Silly me, I thought it was for the drive spindle all this time. I always suspected those bastards had tiny peckers! LOL

thank god its about time, now dumb people wont just throw away their cases and manuals anymore and need to keep them if they ever wanna trade the games in.

Nice move on their part. I approve.
As far as used games, you still won't find a better deal for case & manual condition than Gamefly.
They gut their games of the case & manual for mail-out rental, and when you buy a used one they guarantee that it's sent out with that factory fresh, never been touched (other than the gutting and storage) case & manual which has been in storage while the game has done the rounds in the mail.
Every PS3, Wii and 360 game I've bought from them have had a perfect condition case/manual.

ya gamefly has badass deals, this just in general i think will make more people keep their games complete.

I still have two tubes of POGs in my closet complete with my favorite slammers. It's going to come back someday!
OT, good marketing move actually trying to get some higher customer approval for a change. I wonder if the "Love" concept will vary from store to store.

Well that kind of sucks if I have a game with no manual or something BECAUSE of gamestop.
TonyTheTiger

Technically, you have no manual because of the person who traded the game TO GameStop.

Probably too late in the system's life cycle to guarentee that.

I think Gamestop can do better than that. For every trade-in, deduct the trade in value if the games does not come with complete package. That way people will start to becareful with their games.

This is a measure to prevent stores from accepting stolen games, I suspect.

They could, but it wouldn't make that much of a difference. They give much less for scratched/damaged games, but people still don't take care of them.

I don't know, sounds like they'll probably redirect complete games to the online store and make it even more impossible to find a complete game in the brick and mortars. I've personally never used the online store to buy anything used. I figure if I'm already buying online, I may as well go to eBay where I can know if I'm getting all the packaging, see an actual picture of what I'm getting, and likely get a better deal. And the one time I used Gamestop.com to order something new, that ended up being a complete disaster too.

Took them long enough.
seriously. i havent bought anything from gamestop's website used in over 5 years because of this. i like my games complete? mmkay? the ONLY time i made a used game order was when i need a disk to complete my copy of Megaman x6 for psx, interestingly enough, it arrived complete and mint lol.
anyway, now i can commence ordering the odd game from them now and then.
