3DO Disc Read Issue

Today I decided to check all my 3DO systems to see if they were still fully functional. Well one of my FZ-1 systems was alittle uncooperative. Actually, it works fine as far as powering up and running the demo screens. But then it goes to the "insert game disc" screen, even if a game disc is already inserted.

I unplugged it several times and even used different game disc. For all intents and purposes it works fine except it won't recognize any of the disc I put in it. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

It might just be dirt on the lens

I forgot to mention that when I put in a game disc the green read light on the right comes on as if it's acknowledging the disc, but this goes out after about 5 seconds and it then reverts back to the demo screen or the insert disc screen.

Do you know what I would need to take the top of the case off? I want to look around to see if it's anything simple I can do, like cleaning the lens that you mentioned.
