Pretty much final, though the announcer sound is pretty screwed up. The ROM image is available there if you want to try it out. Really, the neatest part of this prototype is the custom PCB board made by Ocean.

This Rock N' Roll Racing prototype and Major Title are now available for trade. I'm hoping to get another SNES prototype in exchange.

Interesting writeup. Not to beat a dead horse, but don't you think it's possible the ROM image was corrupted over the years? Another reason to dump 'em while they last.

Cool-looking board, fits right in with what I think of when I see "Ocean."

I love custom pcbs, and that has to be one of the best i've seen yet. Thanks Evan

It is possible, though considering how beat up the board is, I'm guessing that whoever made the prototype didn't give a crap. If there is bitrot, it seems odd that the only thing it affects is the sound.

ince it was a proto it is very likely a test demo to see the gameplay and it's functionality and when it passed the test they would go ahead and finish the game and remove all bugs. The narrator problem seems like a glitch not fixed because it was not that important during testing so they decided not to fix it. I believe this more than the bitrot theory although eproms do rot more and are more prone to general corruptions more frequently than regular roms so it's still possible.
