With the exception of joystick controllers, does anyone have a reccomendation for a decent controller for use with 2-D fighters? The standard pad has that "sharp" D-pad that really reeks havoc on your thumb. Any ideas?

Most people reccomend a convertor and a saturn controller.

I just recommend the stick ;)

If you're gonna play arcade fighters, you need an arcade fighter stick.

ASCII Makes a nice controller too:

Toys N Joys has them for $50, but I'm sure you can find them cheaper somewhere else. Besides the limited fighting ones, there was also a plain white/grey one too. I happily found mine at Gamestop somehow for $8, which Tetsu has been trying to pry from me since.

X arcades are pretty good...I prefer tighter sticks then the ones I've used on the bulk of those. Mas systems makes good sticks too, but I think they're more expensive.

Thanks for reminding me. Isn't it about time you handed it over? C'mon, have a heart! I only have one *violin music*...

I have an X-arcade I use with DC games, pretty cool stick overall.

I also have a MAS stick that I use for Neo Geo games, which I like a little bit better than the X-arcade.

But getting a saturn controller adapter and a Japanese pad is also a good idea, as ubersaurus mentioned.
