The PSPgo was released on the 1st / 2nd of October 2009 with a RRP of £224.99. Three days later and most retailers are already slashing the price after an abysmal launch weekend:

Got a chance to play with the Go a bit. It's nice, but I found myself trying to put in a UMD.

Your post literally makes me lol. I think your being a little to drastic by saying "its the most hated and unecessary portable console". It may be hated by you and you may see it to be unnecessary by means of your own personal funds and not wanting to pay that much but to other people including myself and multiple people i know who have bought it have no big complaints.

I think there's a very good chance the PSP Go will be down to $199.99 soon, but this will probably be done by retailers instead of Sony. The $249.99 price tag of the Go is more than likely an inflated price for retailers to make up for the fact that they can't sell the downloadable games.

The bright side, I guess, is that it's pretty damn easy to be able to say "I have a complete PSP Go collection."

It wasn't all bad for Sony in the Uk. The PspGo launch in the Uk actually boosted sales of the Psp 3000 by 120% (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/psp-sales-up-120-in-uk-following-pspgo-launch/l). I'm sure they wish it was the other way around but atleast they sold something.
