However, now that The Beatles (http://joystiq.com/tag/the-beatles-rock-band) have done it and people are playing their game on the morning talk shows, everything has changed.

"We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren't what we wanted," Adam Clayton told USA Today. "That could change. I love the idea that that's where people are getting music, and we'd love to be in that world."

Evidently the representation of the band was the issue the first time. "What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we're interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn't want to be caricatured." Fans looking forward to singing "Lemon" in an unlockable Mr. MacPhisto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoo_TV_Tour#Mr._MacPhisto) costume should be glad it's The Beatles: Rock Band the group saw, and not Guitar Hero 5 (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-5,kurt-cobain).

But does anyone want U2 to have a music game besides them?

I'd much rather have a Weird Al Rock Band game

I have only heard of them, I've never listened to any of their stuff (besides Joshua Tree)

I would look foward to Guns n Roses, but Slash already was in GH3...

EDIT - In the terms of jcalder8, i would also be anxious for a Michael Jackson Rock Band.

Eeeh, I might be interested in playing it, but it'd definitely be a rental given how much U2 is overplayed on the radio...

Seriously.

I'm guessing the U2 band game would be hard because you'd have to constantly dodge Bono's monstrous ego while playing the right notes.

To be authentic to the U2 experience, the game would have to include a “concert mode” wherein two opportunities for bonus points occur: One involves the band members must accurately sustain the same riff for a random, but prolonged, period of minutes whilst Bono rants on about how the audience is dropping landmines on Third World babies. The second scoring opportunity would be for Bono to rack up points for inserting the most non-sequitur lyrics imaginable in the midst of an instrumental, e.g. – In the middle of “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, start singing Barbra Streisand’s “Funny People” = ROCK GOD!

Also, the obligatory limited edition custom controller set would have to be made from free trade 100% recycled plastics, and all the profits would have to go to UNICEF. Sorry, U2, no $20 million payday for you, too. “Evils of capitalism” and all that.

If every band was featured in a single game for every song that would actually be bad ass and I would buy it for sure.

That would take major collaboration, or er money. Forget single artist editions, get them all in one game!

I'd probably be extremely interested if this was 10 years ago, but now... eh. It seems like they're aging at a rate greater than I am. I feel like now they're making "old people music". Whatever happened to U2 being legitimately edgy? (Ugh, forgive me for that unintentional pun.) My interest with them peaked with Pop, and the last time I bothered listening to any of their albums, old or recent, was probably several years ago. And their relentless idealism was charming to me as a teenager, but now it's just kind of nauseating.

They should add them to DJ Hero.

I'd prefer a U2 RB/GH game any day over an Aerosmith one. At least U2 is still somewhat relevant. I don't know anyone that listens to Aerosmith. I don't understand how they keep getting games made in their name.

Thirded. Weird Al would be a fun game.

I think if Weird Al gets a game, there should be a special edition just like Stranglehold or Watchmen. Include the movie UHF along with this special edition.

I think they should make a GTA style game where you get to play as a pissed off motorist after U2 blocks off the streets so they can play their stupid Beatles-knockoff rooftop gig. Your goal is to get to the top of the building, kill U2 and get the damn traffic moving again. And they can use the actual song that was in the video! It would be neat.

I have always hated U2 partly for their whiny music that I never liked secondly their relentless idealism as Aussie put it has always turned my stomach but the same could be said for alot of famous people out there.

I'll fourth the Wierd Al idea though

The new accessory in U2 Rock Band would have to be The Edge's effects pedal.

I have the feeling that any U2-themed music game will drop in price just as fast as GH: Aerosmith did.

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or Led Zeppelin plz, kthxbye

Weird Al GH/RB = epic win!
An Iron Maiden or Judas Priest game would be awesome as well.

If a Weird Al game is out, then "Rockband: AC/DC".

I'd rather Rock Band: Pantera than anything with U2.

I'd prefer a U2 RB/GH game any day over an Aerosmith one. At least U2 is still somewhat relevant. I don't know anyone that listens to Aerosmith. I don't understand how they keep getting games made in their name.

I guess it depends on who you hang around. I don't know anyone who really likes U2, but I know plenty of Aerosmith fans.

I'd buy that in about a second.

EDIT: As for U2, pass.

Ironic, considering the private equity firm Bono is a partner in used to own Pandemic/BioWare before selling their stake...

What about RB/GH Pink Floyd or Rage Against the Machine or Green Day or Nirvana or Weezer?

That would make it worth making the game.
