Ok so I've a region switchable TG-16 With a cd unit, and a non modded TG-16 unit. The US system 2 card only seems to work correctly in the non region modded unit, and the Japanese System 3 card will boot, bring up the title, but displays garbage if you go into settings, will only load (so far) a US Lords of Thunder and nothing else, and will crash after the first "boss" (big guy with sword)

Now, I'm using two MC14551 as internal switches for the region mod, is it possible that data is being distorted by them ? I have not had any trouble at all with PC-Engine HU cards or Turbo Chips at all in the modded system, is this a common issue with system cards ?

I wouldn't say so, something is wrong and its not common for that problem to happen on modded Turbo hardware. You may have to go back and recheck everything on the mod. The only issue I have ever came across with the region mod was in relation to region modded Coregrafx decks paired with Super Cd-Rom 2 units. When paired with one, some hu-card titles will crash, not work, have graphics issues. This combo would also have problems with the PCE-CD game Legion. I wasn't the only one to have these issues with that combo type so it had something to do with that pairing not liking the region mod. The Coregrafx by itself would play everything fine.

Just a quick update, it seems that my US 2.0 card does not work in the modded system either. I find this to be rather odd, as all of my PC-Engine HU cards work perfectly. There has to be some kind of static, or distortion within the mod chip that prevents instruction from the card to the CD unit.

I suppose I'll have to find either a US system 3.0 card or a proper region adapter springboard. Both of which sound expensive.
