A few questions about Skate or Die tricks and controls

Every once and a while I land the 360 or air tricks in the Skate or Die freestyle but I still can't figure out how to really land them. The only way to land the board that I know of is that that you have to land the it in a straight position. Sometimes I feel I have control over it that but other times I don't and it's like I can't even land anything through all the rounds. What are the exact button combos and methods to land the air tricks?

Also regarding the downhill race how do you go over the large pipe without falling? Is there an exact spot you have to start the jump at? Thanks

as far as I was aware you coudln't go ontop of the pipe, but you could go inside it if you went in it straight and remained ducked (netted you a great amount of points as well)

I have very fond memories of this game. Not the greatest thing to control but still lots of fun. My favorite was hoping to the island during the downhill race and then hopping back without falling.
