Broken controller plug

Here's the story:

I've got a PC Engine controller with a broken pin in the connection plug. Would sticking a pin (ie. sewing needle, paperclip, etc.) in there do it?

I would never do that. The pin needs to be connected to the wire. Even if you get luck and it ends up touching the wire, as soon as you pull the plug out, the "new" pin could get stuck in the system. Plus, it would probably only work intermittently because the cord moves.

You are better off rewiring the whole plug. Get a broken or cheap controller and cut the cord off of it and use that.

I believe PC-engine uses a standard mini-DIN plug for its controllers. It should be pretty easy to get a replacement connector and solder it on.

pc engine uses an 8 pin din, with a spacing on the second row and no square guide pin. Dont know if thats standard or not.

Get a broken or cheap controller and cut the cord off of it and use that.Done. I picked up a cheap dirty and yellowed white controller for about $3, opened it up, unplugged the cord, and put it in the nicer controller. Simple.
