I just bought a 2-player converted simpsons cab (for $200), and I was just wondering how I can turn down the volume on it... my daughters bedroom is right above my game room and it's pretty loud.

thanks in advance!

Need to know what the original cab is, or you could post pics. Usually there's a volume pot just inside the coin door.

Look for a thing on the circuit board that looks like a plastic phillips head screw thingy. That should be the volume control. (turn it)

Here's the manual for the game...

It doesn't tell how to adjust the volume but it does tell how to get into the menu and change settings. For example, you can turn off sounds in attract mode.

If you can't find a volume knob, you could always add one yourself in line with the speakers.

I wish I had known that before I made my volume knob.

I can finally hop into discussions even though I am a noob with arcades. With my conversion, different st-v games would come in at different volumes. What I did was drilled a hole in between the speakers. Lay something over the monitor to catch the sawdust.

I went online and found a volume knob for like $2 or $3.

I hooked my volume control up to that. Since this was already mono and I added another speaker I kept it mono with 2 speakers (I could have gone stereo if I really wanted), than just write up a quick wiring diagram for hooking 2 speakers to a mono volume control.

After that, just hook the stuff up. The knob on the coin door may be nice, but having a full on volume knob in between the speakers is very easy to use and is well worth the couple hours of work for it.

If you want to go this route, I can help you even more since I have done it before. Just let me know.

Since you already said it was a conversion cab, you won't get a bunch of arcade collector's pissed at you for drilling a hole in your cab.

More annoying than the volume knob is the fact that (I believe) none of the four-player Konami games (TMNT, Simpsons, X-Men) have a free play mode.

And it wouldn't surprise me if your converted cab didn't have a volume knob. Several of mine are missing them. I guess it was a small detail that most arcade operators didn't care about when converting games back in the day.

After reading this thread, I too am envious. If I could own one Arcade unit, it would be this one, or perhaps the X-Men arcade game also by Konami. $200? Awesome deal!
