Disclosure: this PS3 is not mine, I'm asking around for my cousin.
The PS3 (1st gen 60 gig) was dropped a few feet and landed right side up (top popped off too) onto a table after being pulled from someone tripping over the connected cat5 cable. After this, the PS3 will start but most times will freeze when entering the XMB. Rarely, the PS3 will allow a game disc to run and after a random period of time, will freeze again. I asked him about blinking, flashing or different colored lights on the console and he said there aren't. This system is obviously out of warranty, but what do the experts here think his options are? Should he get the old girl repaired or just replace it? He doesn't care about the BC since he doesn't play PS2 games anyway.
